3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
45 minute wait on release day; unprecedented. aroma is well developed earthy caramel and lightly metallic cherry character. lightly woody. appearance is opaque brown center with darkened, cloudy tan edges. ring head and light legs. flavor is refreshing lightly sour meld of cherry and deepened caramel. other pit fruits come to play, sweetened prune. fruit is never overwhelming or the main focus of the beer, well developed malts are certainly at forefront. sample on draft at the brewpub was lighter and much more tart with far stronger fruitiness.
Aroma is fruit and prune. Flavor is prune, some fruit and cherry. Sort of sweet. Not their best but decent. Got as part of a trade BuckeyeBoy (8857) - Boise, Idaho, USA - APR 26, 2016
22oz bottle thanks to Toby. pours out a cloudy brown with some maroon highlights topped with a small sand head. nose is very sweet fruit notes berries cherries and some pit fruit. taste is more of the heavy fruit berries cherries almost fruit cake. A light tart note and a nice beg touch. nuplastikk (6508) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 5, 2014
22oz shared by MrPickles. Burgundy brown body. Big foamy beige head. Big berry flavor on top of oily sweet malt. Sweet plum, prune tones. Tangy. Kind of like a fruit-edged Porter. Unique. MikeJslc (778) - Alabama, USA - NOV 29, 2013
Deep copper/brown, tan head. Aroma: nutty cocoa, black currant, earthy cherries. Flavor: bread crusts, baker’s chocolate, nutty notes, cherries, dried fruit, lightly tart. Interesting, flavors work well together. Sledutah (7971) - Utah, USA - SEP 24, 2013

Clear dark brown with a medium sized beige head and good lacing. Aroma and flavors of dark berries, cherries, and tart
Bottle thanks to Dallas. Pours a deep murky brown copper color with a large white head. Huge very sweet fruit and malt. The flavor is brown malts, almost pushing toward a Flanders red, some sour cherry, yeasty, Belgian esters. Very good. I really enjoyed this. Gription79 (2892) - Bountiful, Utah, USA - SEP 15, 2013
Poured from a 22 ounce bomber. Big berry character, malty, grape, strawberry, tart, chocolate, nutty. This is very interesting. shigadeyo (3817) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - AUG 2, 2013

8/04/2011: Half Acre presents "Small Animal... Big Machine" (ale brewed with cherries and currants)... Aroma: Caramelized malt and some soft cherry. Appearance: Cola brown color with a large, dull beige-colored head. Flavor: Wonderful blend of roasted malt, lite chocolate, and CHERRY temped by the currant (both are quite obvious); slightly sweet, slightly tart; lingonberry tartness and dryness; finishes dry, and slightly sour with a shot of cherry. Palate: This beer is HIGHLY carbonated (more so than soda), so it’s difficult to judge the actual weight of this beer on the palette. Overall: This is a REALLY nice beer that I enjoyed A LOT.
fl. oz. bottle shared by alexsdad06. Thanks Brad! Rating #61 for this beer.
22 oz. bottle consumed in August 2011. Pours a dark burgundy color with a large fizzy beige head. the aroma is tart berries and cherry, caramel, acidic with some yeasty notes. The flavor is more of the same; tart cherry and berries, caramel, acidic, yeast; spritzy carbonation with a dry finish. I like the label +.1. Huhzubendah (3775) - Washington DC, USA - DEC 11, 2012
Bonus points for the imaginative and creative artwork on the label. The beer is hazy and chestnut brown in color with a ginormous tan head that leaves ample lacing on the glass. A bit over-carbonated.
Sweet fruit dominates the aroma. Currants followed by berries.
The flavor is lightly tannic, offering some oak character and a healthy serving of currants. Definitely more sweet than tart / sour. Alcohol presence is mild. A few ounces is plenty. This was fun to try, but not a big hit among the guys in the tasting group.
