Really good barleywine that I agree with some others seems more like a strong ale. Great balance though. . . a bit of barky sourness, but also a ton of rich malty goodness. Perfect balance of substantial mouth feel and adequate carbonation and levity. Strong, but worth savoring.

Bomber - given to me as a gift. It had already been aged 2-3 years. Pours a murky reddish brown with a thin off white head. Wonderful aroma of rich ripe fruit, caramel and earthy hops. Complex flavors of prune, leather, Oh you will probably have to meet me at my moms ok. Can you bring him a pair of Jammies too

Deep red with a small head. The aroma has a lot of hops, mostly spicy, floral and a bit of resin, with some thick caramel and some light toast. The flavor is similar, particularly hoppy, like an American barleywine should be. Lots of caramel in there too. Nice finish, not real boozy.

Rich amber. Creamy lasting tan head. Not too boozy. Caramel. Toffee. Fairly standard per the zombat.

Enjoyed at an all barley wine tasting at Traviss house on February 21. The pour from this baby is a golden amber-ish color with no real head to speak of, other than an off white film. The aroma is pretty big on hops and there is a resounding dark brown sugaryness behind it. The hops are surprisingly dominant, but being as the color presented a little gold, I suppose I shouldnt be too shocked. The flavor is a little stronger in the dark fruits, but the hops are still very heavy. The mouth feel is really thin and light, with a surprising creaminess. The aftertaste is lingeringly bitter and hoppy. This is almost like an IPA more so than the barley wine.

Bottle at James for the 9k and sour tasting. Pours a dusty amber with a thin white head. Malt and sweetness, some dank hops. Medium bodied, malt and spicy hops. Long slow hops on the finish, malt.

Really like Half Acre, but this beer was just ok. kind of boring actually. Very thin body for a barley wine. Also, very hoppy. Reminded me more of an IPA than a barely wine. Some minor touches of fruit. Most of the flavor though, came from the big floral notes.
