Bottle purchased at Siciliano’s Market in Grand Rapids, MI in December, 2011 and rated on 4-08-2012. Pours a medium sized smooth fizzy white head that was mostly lasting. There was a fair amount of lacing, cloudy body (this was a shared bottle and I had the 2nd pour), fizzy carbonation, and a straw hue. The Aroma was malty, citrus, earthy, sweet, pears, earthy, and spices. The Flavor was sweet, pears, malty, citrus, spices, and a semi-dry short finish. The Mouthfeel was tingly and this is a medium bodied Saison. Overall, I enjoyed the Aroma more than the Flavor because the Flavor reminded me of a Farmhouse beer and I haven’t acquired a taste for that style of beer. That being said, this beer is worthy of a try.

Bomber via Alex I think; pours pale gold with big creamy white head; aromas mainly of stale wheat, creamy malt and wild honey; light fruit, zesty hops and some light white pepper; lemon and pepper with fizzy mouthfeel; high carbonation detracts slightly from an otherwise nice, peppery saison; not getting much of the pear influence flavor-wise

From notes. First reviewed 7/27/2011. Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into a tulip. Thanks to readbaron for opening this up. This pours a vibrant lemony yellow in the middle with less clear edges. Quite hazy from the yeast, with a good size creamy white cap sitting on top. The pear is definitely evident, maybe because I am looking for it, but it is not dominant. Crackery malt, musty saison yeast, with a blend of soft spices, and a decent lemony Sorachi hop profile. The flavor starts out fairly sweet, with the pear being fairly forward. Some white grape and green apple are also noticeable, but there does not seem to be much sweetness derived from the malt. A light bitterness accompanies a soft lemon rind sour hop flavor toward the end of the sip. The mouthfeel is a bit fuller and creamier than I am used to for the style. The carbonation is lively and creamy, which adds to the full character. The end is a bit dry as the hops take hold. I get what they are tyring to do or maybe did with this beer, but the combination of flavors really just leaves something to be desired. Part of it could be the hops - I have yet to be blown away with anything with Sorachi.
