Bottle thanks to hopscotch. Clear pale yellow pour with a white head. Bread and cereal aromas. The taste follows suit with muted fruit notes. drewbeerme (3920) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 17, 2011
a few growlers, pours gold with white head, nose lemons, lime, orange citrus flavors of citrus, lemons, juicy grapefruit, really nice hop flavor here, good bitterness. a huge half acre surprise, this and galactic are their best. hopscotch (11101) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - DEC 8, 2011
Bottle… Pours yellow and clear with a mid-sized, fizzy, white head. Fantastic retention. The bouquet furnishes notes of pear, white pepper, coriander and red apple. Medium to full-bodied with dancing carbonation. The flavor presents fruity, tannic pear and a generous component of earthy bitterness. Tart, tangy, pear finish. Bottle courtesy of pantanap! In short: A very fruity (pears upfront) blonde ale with dry yellowed grassy hops. Good beer, not much of a Saison.durhambeer (2500) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - NOV 23, 2011
How: Bottle 22oz. Consumed fresh soon after purchase. Thanks a lot Julien
The look: Clear golden-blonde body topped by a small white head leaving good lacings
In long: Nose is particularly rustic, maybe a little dusty, but it proposes engaging fresh light-color fruits and nice dry grassy hops, almost a little Saaz-ish. Taste is more of the same. Lots of light-color fruits with the advertised pears coming out strong. I also notes bananas and pineapples. Plenty of dry yellowed grass hops make for a sharply dry finish with a medium bitterness. Mouthfeel was very juicy but also with an overly aggressive soda-pop carbonation. Before becoming Captain Fantasy this beer was previously Lieutenant Fantasy and started its career as a Private Fantasy (with a goat, two midgets and a lot of whip cream).
Bottle shared by emacgee. Cool label. Pours hazy golden with white head. Nose is Sorachi hops and spicy pear. Some pickled lemon rind. Sweet flavor. Yum.

Bomber shared by emacgee - thanks, Ethan! Continuing to dig the Half Acre labels, with the vintage video game look. Handsome straw gold pour, mildly cloudy, with a crisp carbonation and a lovely, fluffy cream head. Strong Sorachi nose, but even though it’s far from my fave hop varietal, I found the combination of the ripe, sharp quality to be a good match with the earthy spice of a saison. Flavor was almost severely dry, which in general I like. But there could have been just a tad more spice, funk, and character, particularly given that the fruit was nearly anonymous to me. dcschiller (2208) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - NOV 11, 2011
(22oz bottle from jcnd9803). Pours a hazy golden color with frothy white head and active carbonation. Aroma is spice, sorachi and some fruit. Taste is sweet with a sharp twang and more spice. Some bitterness. Medium bodied with oily texture. Dry, bitter finish. Decent. vigor3 (3) - Michigan, USA - OCT 31, 2011 does not count
Pours straw-like color with nice thick white 2 finger head that fades very slowly. Full bodied beer but easy drinking. Definitely hoppy but almost sweet from the pears. A little sour in a good way. A great collaboration beer, a must try. emacgee (4676) - Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA - OCT 18, 2011
THanks Bauermj. Gorgeous pour, crystal clean straw yellow with two fingers of sticky white head. Smells like a HB, lemony (sorachi ace) lightly peppery and zesty with some raw yeast and ripe fruit. Light body and dry finish. Newk (299) - - OCT 13, 2011
UPDATED: AUG 20, 2012 poured this from bottle into a bordeaux stem. Poured a very light yellow-gold color with a smaller head.
different aromas than what I expected with pears, spices, orange peels and papaya. More tropical for the aromas.
medium bodied, but slightly on the lighter side. Very tropical flavors with some guava, pears and papaya.
This was good, but not what I expected from a saison. It was a little too light for me on the feel, but still very tasty and good overall.
