Bottle from Binny’s South Loop. Pour a sparkling golden with a white head. Nice perfumy and pear aroma. Lighter side of medium bodied with lively carbonation. Flavor pale Belgian wheat malts countered by a moderate spiciness, with the pear being very subtle. Leaning toward the dry side, not overly sweet. Yeasty and spicy finish that lingers. Not bad at all JulienHuxley (5807) - Sherbrooke, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 6, 2011
Bottle (bad cap). Clear gold pour, nice white foam that quickly recedes. Aroma is very nice, lots of pears mixed with some herbs, mint, tea leaves. Awesome hop profile. Taste has more grain, a little wheaty, nice fruity pear flavor, a bit of herbal/hoppy bitterness. Palate is silky and smooth, ow carbonation. Excellent "soft" saison. madvike (3260) - Middleton, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 3, 2011
Bottle from Tooch4321...thanks Adam! - Pours hazy light amber with a small foamy white head. Dusty yeast and a fruity nose with nice floral tones. The pear lightens everything up and gives it just enough sweetness. Taste is more earthy, with just a little dry funk mingling with the light fruity sweetness. Yeast is prevalent again and the hops come in on the finish with a bit of floral perfume. Effervescent and warming, with a nice slick body and a little too much carbonation. Bomber. Pours a very light golden orange with a small white froth. Aroma is very fruity, the pear comes out and is well complimented by those damn fine sorachi ace hops, love those suckers. Lightly spicy and a bit herbal with a nice light citric note. Flavor starts with a light wheaty and pear note, picking up the spiciness towards the sweet and just a hint of vanilla finish. Herbal and spicy. Medium body and a sharp carbonation. Excellent beer SrSilliGose (3331) - pouring bus, New Brunswick, CANADA - JUL 24, 2011
Growler. Aroma of grassy rustic plastic. Green grass. Farm. Sessionable. Good. Thanks!

Excellent use of Sorachi Ace. The pear is a fantastic complement but hard to pick out on it’s own. Fantastically dry, super drinkable and quaffable. This was a great Saison! wedgie9 (2702) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - JUL 20, 2011
Tasted on 7/20/11 from a 22oz bomber bottle purchased at Half Acre on the day of release. Pours clear, pale orange with a thick white head that slowly recedes to spotty lace, leaving a bit of residue along the inside of the glass. The nose is herbal with cardamom, thai basil, lemon citrus, with some bread and cereal malt, and spicy and earthy Saison yeast. The flavor is, once again, very herbal with cardamom, thyme, basil, and lemon citrus with lighter bread and cereal malt. The body is medium with average carbonation and a long herbal, citrus, and spicy finish. Roonai (305) - - JUL 20, 2011
Growler bought and drank in the same day from the brewery. Pour is a ’clean hazed’ gold (if that makes any sense) with a full white head that dissipates and a lively spritzy carbonation. Nose is surprisingly citrus and piney, missing the pepper i was anticipating from a saison. Sweet fruits and citrus zest make the nose refreshing on its own! Taste is similar with the added complexity of yeast breads backing nicely that i hadnt initially gotten on the nose. The complexity paired with the bright citrus, fruits and pine combine to make Captain Fantasy great for a beer geek on on this 115 heat index day in Chicago! UPDATED: JUL 19, 2011 Growler shared by Drew. Thanks! Pours a murky golden yellow pour, well hazed, with a nice bright white moderate head that dies to a decent film, laces ok. Aromas are vibrant fruity apples, pears, and citrus. Touches of pineapple, bread dough, bread yeast. Touch of grassy hops, vanilla, as the hops become weedy and grassy, stronger than anticipated, touch of pine. Initial is lighter end of a medium bodied, with a nice wet floral and grassy hopping, touches of bread yeast, fruity citrus and apple, pear, and pineapple. A nice melange of flavors with a good solid bitterness, grassy and weedy, earthy, good yeast bite. Finish is crisp, fruity, and dry. Really nice motuhfeel, a touch creamy and spicy, but fruity and dry.. Really runs the gambit. A great Half Acre summer Saison here, more fruity slanted but a healthy hopping and decent complexity. Lovely Saison, complex with a nice yeast strain, well hopped, with a great mouthfeel. Really, this works quite well. A winner. I guess some people don’t understand this. Hazy orange pour with white head on top. Aroma of pears, mild sweetness, some Belgian yeast esters. Sweet notes of bread dough, sweet malt. The pear really stands out in the flavor, giving it quite a bit of sweetness that approaches cloying but doesn’t quite get there. As it warms, the pear gets somewhat grainy with a few bitter notes. The pear doesn’t really convince me that it should be the focal point of this beer, though. It also might be that the hops are somewhat lost in the flavor. Sweet bread malt peeks out from beneath the pear. The hops are minty yet muted towards the finish. Medium to lightish bodied with lively carbonation. This isn’t a total let down but it’s certainly a not as great as I hoped it would be.
