Brilliant Saison - had the Short’s version at the Brewpub. The sublime pear was the perfect compliment to the hoppy bitterness and slight sourness. Killer good.

Pours straw-like color with nice thick white 2 finger head that fades very slowly. Full bodied beer but easy drinking. Definitely hoppy but almost sweet from the pears. A little sour in a good way. A great collaboration beer, a must try.

Draft at Jerry’s. Pale gold with decent, creamy, white head / Bright nose of weed and pear / Medium body, vibrant and acidic, with good balance and bitter finish / Elegant, bright, flavors of weed, pear, peach, lemon, and coriander / A stylish saison with a unique flavor profile.

Bottle from Binny’s South Loop. Pour a sparkling golden with a white head. Nice perfumy and pear aroma. Lighter side of medium bodied with lively carbonation. Flavor pale Belgian wheat malts countered by a moderate spiciness, with the pear being very subtle. Leaning toward the dry side, not overly sweet. Yeasty and spicy finish that lingers. Not bad at all

22oz bottle. Pours a mostly clear, bright yellow-gold colored body with a steady rising carbonation and a two finger-width, very dense and foamy, pure white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing throughout. Very pretty beer. Aroma is bright fruits with lots of pear, sweeter lemon-citrus, and perfumey florals. A light grassy hop, pineapple, a touch of tart apple, saison yeast, and lightly sweetened bready pale malts. Flavor is just as nice. Lots of juicy pears, sweeter citrus with some pineapple, lemon, and a touch of grapefruit, and some apple. Smooth bready malts come in after the fruits along with some grass, florals, and yeast. Hops kick it up at the end as this dries very nicely with a moderate bitterness and a pleasant yeasty, spicy crispness. Lots of fruits and some bready malts join the yeast and hops leaving a lengthy aftertaste. Medium-light, very smooth and creamy body with a soft, moderate carbonation. Overall, a damn good saison. I really liked this one. Lots of juicy, brighter fruits with a soft bready malt and a very enjoyable, well-hopped, dry, yeasty finish. The distinct pear really put this over-the-top for me. Well done!

Hazy pale golden with n off whitehead. Very citrusy aroma. Bitter mango and orange flavor. Hoppy for the style, but very tasty.

Tasted on 7/20/11 from a 22oz bomber bottle purchased at Half Acre on the day of release. Pours clear, pale orange with a thick white head that slowly recedes to spotty lace, leaving a bit of residue along the inside of the glass. The nose is herbal with cardamom, thai basil, lemon citrus, with some bread and cereal malt, and spicy and earthy Saison yeast. The flavor is, once again, very herbal with cardamom, thyme, basil, and lemon citrus with lighter bread and cereal malt. The body is medium with average carbonation and a long herbal, citrus, and spicy finish.

Excellent use of Sorachi Ace. The pear is a fantastic complement but hard to pick out on it’s own. Fantastically dry, super drinkable and quaffable. This was a great Saison!
