COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Early Fall has farmers picking whole cone hops and shipping them to us to brew a wet hop beer. We kick up a black beer with a very sticky character. Beware of the StickyFat Bear.

A specialty brew. Grab it when you see it. 7% ABV.

UPDATE: Half Acre differentiates between their vintages based solely on fresh hop quantities. The 2011 has 100% "wet" hops. The 2010 had a different quantity. 2012 has a different amount of hops. Under our guidelines these are still the same beer.

A: The pour is cola like, looks black in the glass except when held to the light where it is a dark mahogany color. S: Very nice hop aroma of grapefruit, grass, and pine. The base beer is fairly roasty with some brown sugar and sweet malt. T: Grapefruit--both flesh and rind--with some grassy character and a moderate piney bitterness. Some malt sweetness, brown sugar, roast, and maybe a bit of bitter coffee or chocolate. M: Medium body with a somewhat low carbonation from the growler journey. D: This was quite a nice beer, of course I’m a sucker for a Black IPA. I did wish it had a little more bitterness, but otherwise this was quite solid.

Interesting beer. IT has more of a traditional hop flavor than wet, plenty of dakr malt character.

Growler shared by Kan, thanks. Poured a clear dark brown with a gray brown head that dissipated slowly to the edges. Aroma a had a combination of pine with some sweet dark grains. Flavor began with some dark grains, but the pine grows which led to the dark grains becoming a backing note.

Tap at Half Acre. Dark cola pour with a soapy head. Earthy malts and a mild pine hop note. Pretty subtle beer but obviously well made. Nuanced.

Tap at Half Acre Tap Room, Chicago. Poured a clear dark brown with a thin off white head. The aroma is grassy hop. The flavour is medium bitter with a real spicy hoppy dry pepper liqourice palate and a long bitter finish.
