COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Early Fall has farmers picking whole cone hops and shipping them to us to brew a wet hop beer. We kick up a black beer with a very sticky character. Beware of the StickyFat Bear.

A specialty brew. Grab it when you see it. 7% ABV.

UPDATE: Half Acre differentiates between their vintages based solely on fresh hop quantities. The 2011 has 100% "wet" hops. The 2010 had a different quantity. 2012 has a different amount of hops. Under our guidelines these are still the same beer.

Bottle, from brewery taproom. Ok aro’-, sweet, malty, roasty, more roasted malt than hops, on the pine side. Hazed brownish orange color. Good head and lace. Sweet bitter flavor. Medium body,k light creamy mouthfeel, bitter finish. It’s fine, solid. Black ipa.

22 oz bottle. (Half Acre Beer Co) Chicago, IL.
Hazy dark reddish brown color with a mid-size foamy light tan head. Fresh hops, sweetness, mild bitterness, grain and some toasted malt in the aroma. The flavor is roasted malt, hops, moderate bitterness, freshness and dryness.

Tap @ Half Acres Taproom. Very dark brown, reasonable head. Sweet hop aroma. Toffee coffee flavour. Bitter sweet aftertaste. A very good well balanced bipa.

22 ounce bottle. Pours dark with some hoppy notes. Medium to light body and a roast finish. Nice.

Great example of the style. Rich, toasty malts hold up to the hops. Not overly carbonated.

Bomber pours an opaque dark brown/black with moderate off-white head that leaves some lacing. Aroma is full of roasted earthy malts and chocolate, with a bit of piney hops. Taste is slightly sweet with the hops coming out only in the finish. Body is medium with light carbonation and a slightly sticky mouthfeel. This fan of dark local brews had to try this as soon as I saw the label. I’m not sure whether to call this a good porter or a very malty black IPA, but it was well worth trying.

Sampled at an ESBLS tasting. Dark brown with a lot of amber. Ashy chocolate flavors with soft fruit. Decent malts are complex. Chocolate with some roasted notes. A bit of pine. This is definitely malt forward and hops are scarce. Very easy to drink unless you are seeking more hops.

Black thinner pour with a small white head. Roasted chocolate aroma. Big chocolate flavor with a small hoppy presence. Much more like a porter than black IPA, but still some hoppyness.

Tap at Half Acre. Dark cola pour with a soapy head. Earthy malts and a mild pine hop note. Pretty subtle beer but obviously well made. Nuanced.

Purchased at the Half Acre brewery in Chicago, IL in bomber form, enjoyed on Halloween evening having to work staying indoors while it snows outside. Appearance is a murky dark brown with a moderate slightly off white head. Aroma is a mixture of roasted chocolate malt and leafy hops, light caramel, smells great. Taste finishes bitter but has a sweet nutty quality which I find fantastic. Really enjoying this one, another great Half Acre brew.
