UPDATED: MAR 2, 2013 Big pour at the source with source meaning half acre... Pours a deeper reddish caramel hue, lightly transparent, and topped with a frothy barely off-white head... Aroma is assertive with that piney tropical fruit goodness. Somewhat dank. Juicy yet a touch dry. Really nice with hops abound... Flavors are more of the same with semi-sweet and dry with a dank tropical fruit focus. A bit piney late and through the backend. The malts don’t really get in the way despite its alpha king like appearance. Medium bitterness through the backend with a light dryness. Really like the mosaic in this one. Couple drafts on tap at the Tap Room (Chicago, IL). Really excited for this beast. Pours a deep copper amber pour, good haziness, frothy tannish head. Firm ring of a layer, laces pretty well. Good deeper hue, glow and haziness. Aromas are a rich melange of fruit, citrus and tropical fruit elements. Melon, grapefruit, and tangerine, good mangos and papaya. A touch sweet but rich with doughy and bready malts, bit of biscuits. Nice flavors as initial pushes with peaches, grapefruit, bitter pine and florals. Front end is bready, pale malts, and grainy. Some good florals. Middle and backend are really where this beer shines. Fuzzy peach, tropical fruit, lots of florals, piney elements. White grape, melon, firmer florals and bitter resiny hops hit the palate. Real lush and bitter with good flavors, fruit, strongest bitterness into the backend and mellow body. The sweetness from the malt doesn’t crop up and get more intense like I’d expect. Good hop flavors, the Mosaic shines here. Big fruit, bigger bitterness offers good girth into the backend with the smaller body. Good flavors, hops, and bitterness all around. Well done, flavors are potent, bitter slanted by a good deal as we move back. Really damn good beer. Darker than I expected, good lacing, great aromas and flavors, fairly complex. Nice job, guys. I can see why Drew doesn’t like it.. but I think it’s damn good albeit an odd malt bill/profile overall. I think Kan said it best when he said "Alpha King with Mosaic Hops".. hombrepalo (1971) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 14, 2013
Pint pour at Half Acre. Clear, red-oak amber with small off-white head and excellent lacing. Hoppy aroma of grapefruit, pine, caramel and citrus. Taste of grapefruit, orange, tangerine, pine, tropical fruit and light sweet malt. Medium/full body and medium carbonation. A delicious hoppy IPA with just enough malt flavor for balance and an intensity that rivals most double IPAs. Thorpe429 (5035) - , Illinois, USA - MAR 30, 2013
On tap at Churchkey. Super dank with tropical and citrus peel notes in the background. Heavily bitter. Really heavily. Dank throughout. Pine and grapefruit. lusikka (7813) - Tampere, FINLAND - MAY 2, 2013
Draught @ Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen. Pours a hazy amber colour with a white head. Aroma of strong floral hops, caramel and grapefruit. Flavour of caramel malts, grapefruit, mandarin orange and hay. Medium bodied, slick mouthfeel and a lingering bitter and pungent citrusy finish. Really tasty. Classic Three Floyds hops.

07-DEC-2013, bottle @home, from Mikkeller & Friends. A gift.
Slight gusher. Hazy amber with almost white head. A wonderfull hoppy aroma with a good dose of malts. Grape fruit, pine, and exotic fruits.
Taste the same with the malts more forward, mostly in the form of caramel.
Very hoppy, some sweetness but finish is dry. Somewhat like an IIPA but never that sweet, and thinner body - medium at the most.
Very nice brew. mikem409 (2026) - bloomfield, Michigan, USA - JAN 4, 2015
Bottle from FFF. Color is dark orange with solid head. Big citrus rind aroma. Some malt
Taste is bright fresh citrus hop with some sweet bread. sherm1016 (1274) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 15, 2013
Draft at the Half Acre tap room. Pours a dark amber color with a light tan head. Aroma is huge hops, loads of grapefruit, some pine. Medium on the palate with average carbonation. Flavor is bitter, hoppy, onion, garlic, some bready sweetness, with a big, bitter hop finish. Very tasty. Single hop mosaic. Very interesting. Would love to see this again. Tap at Churchkey with a few pours, thanks to drowland for letting me try originally. Pours a clear deep orange to bright red. Medium white foam. Webby lacing. Nose is very intense: juicy passionfruit, gooseberry, papaya. Tropical all the way. Taste is dustier, nutty, dry, lemon tea acidity and tannins. Still pretty nice, aroma was out of control. jcos (1851) - Maryland, USA - APR 30, 2013
3/27/2013 Tasted at Three Floyds event at Churchkey during CBC. Nice amount of bitterness, fruity aroma. Wish I could try again under different circumstances, but don’t foresee that happening. Remembering this being a nice surprise.
