COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Vallejo, an India Pale Ale we brewed with coastal spirit. This 6.7% hop crasher sharply dives into the very deep waters of bitter beers.

Draft pour in their taproom. Bright orange and cloudy. Sticky head. Aroma is intense - grapefruit I think. Bitter taste, smooth, mild hops, fruity. Delicious IPA. Liked this better than the double daisy cutter and a tie with Space ale

16 oz. can, consumed on 10-15-16. Pours a mostly clear (but with some haze) yellow/gold with a large amount of golden beige head. Excessive head in the initial pour but more reasonable amounts in later pours. I think I would have given the appearance a 4 instead of a 3 if not for the initial excessive head. Pretty cloudy in the final pour in a murky way that does the appearance no favors. Good, thick lacing. An almost greenish tint to the liquid. Orange, grapefruit, apricot, and pineapple scents. Too fruity for my aromatic preferences among IPAs. There is some gym bag funk in the aroma, which I do like. Doesnt smell bad; dont get me wrong. I just dont need some dumbed down, New England-style IPA fruit aromatics that make IPAs accessible to people who otherwise cant handle them. Fresh smell; chlorine from the yeast. Nice, citric funkiness in the flavor. Lemony and herbal taste. Sweeter in flavor than I would most desire. Too much orange and grapefruit in the taste, in an artificial, hard candy way at that. Chemical, almost paint-like aftertaste. Undercarbonated in the palate. Feels flat. The carbonation that should be there apparently was released in the head. Aside from the unfortunate palate effects (including a not particularly pleasant aftertaste), this is not a poorly made beer. It is, however, a beer designed to appeal exactly to the sort of unsophisticated, newer craft beer drinkers that are driving IPAs so far in the wrong directions (toward bitterness-free juice bombs). Im trying not to take out my frustration with the substyle on this beer alone, but its not for this legitimate IPA lover. The funkiness / dankness in aroma and flavor saves it from what could have been a sub-3 score. I am left quite underwhelmed and disappointed.

On tap at Augurs Well, pours a clear copper golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out piney hops, sticky resins, and some residual sweetness. Flavour is very dry, with piney hops, some spiciness and bone dry biscuity malt. Dry, with low residual sweetness on the finish. Simple but really well-done.

Poured from a can into an IPA glass a very hazy straw color with a good amount of head that laces the glass. The smell is full of citrus peel and pine, very hop forward. The flavor is just the same but ramped up. Almost has the profile of a Double IPA. The amount of juiciness and pine bitterness combined. Very enjoyable and balanced. I could drink this all the time.

Draft: Clear, light gold, white head. Grapefruit, lemon aroma. Strong, sharp, citrus and grapefruit-peel taste..... An ultra-solid citrus-driven IPA..... Very nice.

Sample at the brewpub. Hazy golden color with a medium white head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing. Aroma of citrus, hops and malt. Medium body with flavors of zesty citrus, herbal hops and malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a fruity hops aftertaste. Pretty good all around.

Tap at Publican in ORD. Deep hazy gold with a thick, low head. Nice tropical fruit and citrus hop nose with a bit of biscuity malt in the background. Crisp grapefruit flavor, passion fruits, and a great, bitter, peppery finish. Great IPA.

I am a fan of all the Half Acres Ive tried to this point. The Vallejo IPA is certainly no exception. A nice orangey-amber color. A fluffly white head. A nice citrus, fruity aroma. The taste is hoppy, citric, floral, island-y (I was pleased to see a pineapple variation because there is an almost pineapple flavor in there as well -or maybe it was the power of insinuated suggestion). Very, very good.
