Draft at the Half Acre Tap Room. Hazy light orange color. Smell has prickly hops to it, again, the strong citrus and piny notes of a West Coast hopped beer. Toasty malts are closer to the fore, but it still carries a hop punch of grapefruit juice and resin.

Can thanks to Adam! Pours a clear light gold with a white head that dissipates to the edge and laces slightly. Aroma has a good amount of pine with a bit of grapefruit bitterness and a grain backbone. Flavor has a good amount of pine with a bitter grapefruit note and a bit of grains coming through.

Pours a pale hazy yellow with a white head that leaves a thick lace on the glass. Taste is light malt with a floral hop note at the end that is both flavor and bite. finish is dry and leaves a bit of a grainy note.

Tasted from a pint can. It poured a hazy golden hue with a white head. Deliciously fruity, citrus hop and pine aroma. Bitter hop taste with a bit of pineapple and citrus. A nice Pineapple Express 4.20 rating to complement to my 4/20 celebration. And have I mentioned... Chicago puts out some damn good IPAs!

This is the best IPA i have ever. Its a shame its produced only seasonally. I hope in the future it becomes a stable at half acre. Truly is the most flavorful IPA i have ever had.

16 oz. can, consumed on 10-15-16. Pours a mostly clear (but with some haze) yellow/gold with a large amount of golden beige head. Excessive head in the initial pour but more reasonable amounts in later pours. I think I would have given the appearance a 4 instead of a 3 if not for the initial excessive head. Pretty cloudy in the final pour in a murky way that does the appearance no favors. Good, thick lacing. An almost greenish tint to the liquid. Orange, grapefruit, apricot, and pineapple scents. Too fruity for my aromatic preferences among IPAs. There is some gym bag funk in the aroma, which I do like. Doesnt smell bad; dont get me wrong. I just dont need some dumbed down, New England-style IPA fruit aromatics that make IPAs accessible to people who otherwise cant handle them. Fresh smell; chlorine from the yeast. Nice, citric funkiness in the flavor. Lemony and herbal taste. Sweeter in flavor than I would most desire. Too much orange and grapefruit in the taste, in an artificial, hard candy way at that. Chemical, almost paint-like aftertaste. Undercarbonated in the palate. Feels flat. The carbonation that should be there apparently was released in the head. Aside from the unfortunate palate effects (including a not particularly pleasant aftertaste), this is not a poorly made beer. It is, however, a beer designed to appeal exactly to the sort of unsophisticated, newer craft beer drinkers that are driving IPAs so far in the wrong directions (toward bitterness-free juice bombs). Im trying not to take out my frustration with the substyle on this beer alone, but its not for this legitimate IPA lover. The funkiness / dankness in aroma and flavor saves it from what could have been a sub-3 score. I am left quite underwhelmed and disappointed.
