very good...easy drinking.
On tap at the brewpub. Pours clear copper. Aroma is sweet and malty. Flavor is the same with some fruit and candy notes. I really liked this. Don’t understand the low ratings. bpar73 (1186) - Bellaire, Michigan, USA - FEB 24, 2016
On tap at the brewpub. Clear, dark, brown pour with a minimal head. Sweet malt aroma and taste with an almost bourbon barrel smooth booziness. Nice beer. arminjewell (9720) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - DEC 12, 2014
Pour on tap at the brewery, clear orange-yellow pour with white head, aroma is bread, some honey, touch of vanilla, some yeast, pretty bland. Taste is sweet bread, biscuit, some earth, touch of red fruit, there is a booze component to this as well. Finishes sweet, boozy, eh. edgallow (4570) - nashville, Tennessee, USA - NOV 30, 2014
Draft sampler pours amber with a off white head. Aroma is malty, caramel and some citrus. Taste is really malty and fruits. DrSilverworm (9672) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - NOV 3, 2014
4oz on tap at the brewpub. Clear orange color. Minimal ring of off-white head. Medium plus body. Smooth, lighter carbonation. Kind of slick finish. Moderate sweet taste, lighter bitter. Caramel malt, some hints of fruity apricot, citrus. Mild kind of spicy mildy piney hop. An OK american strong ale -- kind malty and sweet overall.

Draft to taster at Half Moon. Looks solid; not like an American Strong Ale though (although that may be what someone classified it as due to the abv and a lack of description of the style). A transparent golden orange with eggshell lacing. Smells sweet and malty. Tastes like it smells with a bit of unaversive booziness. Solid on the palate. Solid beer. shrubber85 (11670) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - DEC 28, 2013
Draft. Cherry malt aroma. Medium yellow with small head. Sweet light cherry and toffee malt flavor. Unbelievably smooth - would never have believed that this was an 8% beer. Very nicely done. Brigadier (3760) - Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA - NOV 13, 2013

The strongest beer available at the time was a half decent shot at a high gravity release. It has a few weaknesses but at least on draft it was not hard to finish a few ounces. If not for the previous samples I might have been able to even finish a whole pint. Stick the wheats unless you need to tick everything though.
Aroma / Appearance - A caramel bronze base with fluid legs hangs around. The smell of cherry Twizzlers, malt, and sweet fresh fruit give it some needed depth. It lacks a cohesive character though that defines it overall.
Flavor / Palate - Malty cherries, red licorice, and the warmth of ethanol fill the mouth with a boozy texture. The caramel driven finish isn’t that bad but at the same time it does not really inspire more reflection. For an 8% ABV tap this is on the simple side. It wasn’t bad; at the same time there is nothing interesting here.
This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a small sized head of frothy fine to medium sized tan colored bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a uncarbonated transparent golden brown colored body and a poor lacing. The mild aroma was hoppy and floral. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The flavor contained notes of mild spice hops and malt. An OK brew just nothing special.
