COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Imperial Stout is a decadent ode to the art of brewing. Malted & roasted barley come together with a heaping dose of crystal and chocolate malts to form the jet black body. Columbus hops form the bitter backbone and a slow fermentation leads to a smooth finish. The beer is then aged for 6 months plus in freshly emptied Bourbon barrels. The barrel aging adds in a complexity of brown sugar and vanilla notes along with a slight interplay of oxygen that would be impossible to achieve without this expensive and time consuming process. The result is a thick, rich Stout that should be served at 14 C. in a brandy glass with a side of your favourite dark chocolate. Unfiltered. Label indicates Batch 2.

Didn’t realize there was a separate entry for this here. Bottle release, from the brewery. Compared to the first batch, seems mellower and smother - first batch I tried with a year of age on it and this seems even smoother and less boozy. Still boozy though, lots of bourbon, chocolate, big and brash. Taste too, just a really great and huge BA imperial stout.

Bottle 650ml. Pours black with low brown head. Minimal lacing. Aroma is of bourbon, roasted malt, soy sauce. Taste is of bourbon, vanilla, roasted malt, alcohol, molasses, soy sauce, chocolate. Palate: Full bodied, soft carbonation. Overall: Good, heavy, dirty. Like Czar likes em’.

Note: 8/10

Pours a good black with a reddish brown rim on top that leaves low lacing. Nose is of alcohol, soy sauce, vanilla and coconut. Taste is really chocolate-forward/fudgt with a moderately high sweetness ans some appropriate bourbon and vanilla. Lightly warming. Body is pretty much full, carbonation moderate and mouthfeel is rich and sticky. A nice dessert, wish the bourbon would shine a little more though.

2 ounces at tasting. Aroma: chocolate, bourbon, licorice, molasses, light caramel. App: dark burgundy, minimal brown head. Taste and palate: medium to full body, liquoreux, light acidity finish. Overall: good acidity brought by the barrel aging. Not too sweet which I liked. Great stuff.

Bouteille 650ml, bottle share. Couleur noire opaque, mousse moka foncée. Arôme d’alcool, soupçon de sauce soya, Bourbon, bois, noix, malt torréfié. Goût de sauce soya, alcool, sucré, malt torréfié, café. Carbonatation faible, corps dense.

Bottle (22 oz) at tasting. Pitch black with a small brown head leaving little lacing. Aroma is quite boozy and bourbon forward with loads of chocolate, berries notes and vanilla. Taste is sweet and boozy, bourbon forward and chocolate finish. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Oily mouthfeel. Chocolate finish with some warming alcohol Good but boozy and not as deep as b1.

bottle at tom’s epic tasting 2016. pours unclear very dark brown with a creamy dark beige cap offering good retention and lacing. lots of powdered chocolate, bourbon chocolate, vanilla-infused beef stock, burnt hazelnuts, perfumey tingling booze, some sweetness - deep molasses; minerals. moderate carbonation, medium body - oily; sweetish woody-bourbon umami finish. big and hot but very tasty - bit of ageing would help.

Bouteille.
