A very dark pour out of the bottle, near black with a small brown head. Great bourbon aroma and taste out of the gate, kicks you in the tonsils right off, followed by powerfully thick dark chocolate. A large mouthful is like having a shot. Good sipper.

650ml brown bottle. Label is photocopied and doesn’t have a bar code, it’s also attached with 2 thick strips of packing tape...9.6 % abv, not 11.6%...uhm...is this really this beer...? Black pour, can’t see through this. Tiny brown head that just holds on long enough to be noticed. Nose has excellent rich bourbon, big alcohol but it’s ok as it was expected, super rich, deep chocolate. Taste has rich dark and roasted malts, deep dark chocolate and woody barrel notes are noticeable. Bitterness is a bit milder than expected. The finish has deep roasted malts, very woody, dryness with chocolate notes. Full mouthfeel, carbonation supports the beer appropriately. Final thoughts are this beer is an excellent rich bourbon barrel stout, great for sipping or pulling extended gulps out of the glass. It goes down with ease either way, smoothness is there but the beer shows it elements well, the drinkability is top notch. Simply put it’s one of the better bourbon barrel aged stouts I’ve had. Rewarding.

650 ml bottle to oversized snifter (shared with the Mrs.; thanks DuffMan). Looks good; an opaque very dark (not quite black) cola with thin tan head that dissipates into lacing. Smells good; dark malt, chocolate, and bourbon. Tastes like it smells with a nice, smooth mouthfeel. Good beer!

Bottle shared at ChrisO’s pre-GBBF 2013 Shindig. Care of Andrew Unger. Opaque almost black, tan head. Nose is bourbon whiskey, woody bourbon barrel, spicy, dark chocolate, roasted malt. Taste is quite strong bourbon barrel, boubon whiskey, but it’s smooth and leaves room for the chocolate and roasted malt, so not overpowering like GIBCS.

At Chriso pre GBBF Shindig 2013. Black beer lasting tan head. Chocolate sponge aroma. A decent imperial stout some boozy heat on the finish.

22 fl oz bottle. Pours pitch black with a small tan to brown head. Aroma is dark malty, breadish and chocolate. Smooth malty, chocolate and dark roasted malty. Mild bourbon smooth and mellow malty. Dark malty finish.

Pours black with a dark beige head. Aroma is bourbon sweetness, mocha and roasted malts. Taste is coffee, roasted malts and big sweet bourbon alcohol sting. A little too boozy for me. Needs to sit a bit.

Bottle, many thanks to Colin. It pours opaque black with a medium tan head. The nose is roasted malt, toast, marshmallow, vanilla, toasted coconut and cocoa. The taste is roasted malt, toast, earth, cocoa, vanilla, coconut, warming alcohol, earth, light charcoal and mild acidity with a dry, roasty finish. Full body, moderate carbonation and velvety mouth-feel. Good depth and well-integrated flavour. Not over the top thankfully. Rather well done.

Tan head with a jet black colour. Huge aroma, hot and alcoholic note, oak and roast mixed with chocolate, burbon and vanilla. Has a hint of diacetyl on aroma as well. Full bodied brew with a hot finish and burbon and buttery texture. very big beer and some tasty.
