Pours a dark brown with a frothy off-white head. Leaves a bit of lacing Smells of sweet caramel with citrusy, floral hops, and a hint of coffee. Feels light on the tongue but smooth and satisfying. Flavours start with malty, dark chocolate coffee that transitions smoothly into floral, citrusy note. Aftertaste is similar to the start with a nutty chocolate biscuit flavour. I like it.
I was surprised to like this as much as I did. I am normally not a Dark Beer fan, but enjoyed this one very much. Not as heavy as some I have tried. I REALLY liked this beer. Thanks to Piscator for supplying this one. sergelutaba (67) - Alberta, CANADA - OCT 9, 2012

Pours a deep dark chestunt brown turbid, ale in the glass with a glorious sticky-rocky mocha-colored 3 finger cap.
lasts and laces the glass sides.( lots of malt protiens in this brew kids)
Wonderful American ale aromas...pungent cascade floral-citrus in the nose is balanced by sweet crystal malt tones and a bit of cocoa from the black malts...delicious!
Light in character but rich and medium bodied with a distinctive balance.
Flavor starts well balanced between chewy nutty malts and fruity esters in balance with sturdy floral bittering from the hops....mid palate the savory impressions develop as the flavors mingle on the palate: walnut skins with biscuit, chocolate, tobacco, tart fruits cedar bitters...then the finish breaks clean with increasing metallic bittering from the hops mingling with the astrigency from the "char" of the black malts....in a blind taste I bet a lot of people would say this was a porter.
A delicious dark brown ale in the American style...I envy the brewer if his wife has the character this beer displays ;-)

Draft at the Yellow Dog Tavern. Iíd had this out of bottle before and been underwhelmed, but WOW! This rocks on tap! Fresh hop aroma, creamy malt character, loads of malt character, great palate. Nose is citrus hops, dark chocolate, spice. Flavors are similar to a very heavily hopped porter. Suddenly my least favorite Half Pints beer is now my very favorite.

This one is interesting as it is one brown ale that has a distinct dry/hoppy presence, not a taste I associate with the style but loved it. Itís a bit of a hybrid if you ask me but it works fine! oakbluff (448) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - OCT 21, 2007
On tap in my basement. yahoo. Been looking forward to the second go round of this tasty seasonal. Pours out a deep chestnut, with frothy off white head. Nose- nutty, and some mocha. Taste- very nutty and biscuity with a woody finish. Some hops come out and play giving a cirtrus flavour. Seems slightly less hoppy than last years, but could be just me. Very rich in flavour, but still light bodies and highly drinkable. Excellent brown ale. dreamflower (790) - Steinbach, Manitoba, CANADA - DEC 29, 2011
Bottle shared with northropfrye. A nice sweet beer. Dark brown colour and head. Nice beer. eric_victor (57) - Manitoba, CANADA - JAN 8, 2012
Dark brown, almost black. Thick head that lasts. Sweet, hoppy aroma. Medium carbonation. Ecxellent seasonal brew from a great brewery. Pigfoot (2268) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - NOV 28, 2007
Clear and mahongany tinted, under a perfectly rusted and rocky cream toned head of foam. Nice.
Aroma: lovely stuff, an enticing mix of nuts, soft cocoa, light spice...big malt, plenty of caramel, and light hops. Mmmm.
Lets taste íer!
Lively carbonation, malty sweetness, then dry...some bright fruity flavors, some cherry speaking up, very tasty...full flavored, roasty-toasty...feeling like the character of a dubbel, here, and no wonder...British crystal malt, plus Belgian Biscuit and Chocolate...very good. Golding and Cascade hops, fairly small in the flavor, but they sparkle in the finish.
Sweet, yes, and just a little bitter. Mmmm. I like it, and it reminds me of my beloved Bender. Beautiful stuff, here. Iím sure, just like Nikki.
