"Hops galore!" youll say upon supping this American Pale Ale. With a hop aroma bursting full of floral and zesty citrus, this one churtles down your slide with a clean honey malt flavour balancing wonderfully with that sensational hop tang. Overall, this fresh Kiwi take on the American pale is both zesty and tangy, indeed, we reckon youll find it uniquely zangy and asking you back for more.

As it warms in the glass the hop taste begins to work harder, with moderate success. But sadly, I would then describe this as "thin" all over. Lacks body, lacks a defining taste, one that has depth, and carry. Id enjoy one or two of these with mates but it couldnt carry a long haul session.

Tap. Slightly hazy pale gold with a white head. Gentle aroma of lemon pudding, some grapefruit, crackers. Light bodied. Moderately sweet with crackers and sweeter citrus than expected. Quite floral. Dry but not very bitter at the end. Not "Hops galore", but a very decent quaffer.

A golden looking beer with a fleeting head. Hops are crisp and straw like. Malty and well balanced with a citrus rind finish.

2016-05-09. Crisp dark yellow body, small off-white head and lace. Aroma is mild, light fruity hops, muted green undertones. Flavour is moderately hoppy throughout, interesting tropical fruit and melon, mild green hops. Smooth average bodied palate, good carbonation. 6+/3/7/3/13-14 On tap at Hallertau Brewbar, Auckland, NZ.

500 ml bottle bought at YATA in MOKO, Mong Kok.

Looks: Clear golden honey colour; Explosive three finger head with crumpety white foam which lasts for 4 minutes; Good sticky lacing with very fizzy carbonation.

Aroma: Very fragrant and sweet Ale malt, with passion fruits, pineapples, grapefruits, lime peels, assorted berries, blackcurrant, floral, honey, sugar, light pine, biscuits and fresh grass.

Taste: Medium sweet Ale malt, with grapefruits, citrus oil, light caramel, floral, molasses, light pine, dry biscuits, lime, fairly strong bitter hops and grass.

Body: Close to full body. Thick and oily palate.

Mouth Feel: Good Ale maltyness in a thick and rich background. Citrus elements abound, with mostly lemon oil, light grapefruits and light pine. Quite flowery, sweetness is moderate and good lime peel to round. Mellow and nice!

Hoppiness: Fragrant passion fruits, pineapples, grapefruits, lime peels, assorted berries, blackcurrant, floral, honey, light pine and fresh grass in nose. Grapefruits, citrus oil, floral, light pine, lime and grass in taste; Bitterness is moderate for a lasting, medium astringent bitter sweet finish.

After Taste: Slightly dry. Limey and fairly bitter to mouth.

Comments: This one has some really nice and impressive NZ hop aroma, so tropical and berry-like I sniffed for a few minutes before drinking it. Taste is fairly rich sweet malts with yet mellow, limey and oily hoppiness. Not so APA-ish but what a great Summer drink this is. Will buy again!

Poured from bottle a golden yellow with medium head. At first smell this is appears hop filled with citrus notes. Falls a little flat throughout though. A nice start but not much of a finish on the palate leaving you wanting more.

UPDATED: MAY 1, 2016 A nice beer, but I expected a bit more, given the amazing reputation of the brewery. Citrus aroma, but nothing too complex. Great balance of bitterness and malt - not too sweet. Would be a good session beer and Ill try it on tap one day. Update on tap - even more underwhelming
