Rather too harshly bitter really, but it looks lovely and has a nice head onto that red brown body. Enjoyable softer malts work hard to rein that bitterness in without a lot of luck.

Deep copper/gold pour with a thick, long lasting beige head. Orange, caramel, a little spice on the nose. Taste is bitter up front, malty sweetness, orange, spice, fairly long bitter finish.

Clean and crisp with a hint of rye coming through. Decent hop profile bringing back the IPA style.

beer-yum (1890) - Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - NOV 4, 2016
Restrained fresh floral aroma in an amber copper pour. Laid back hop malt balance is tasty but a little thinner than expected. Finish is crisp and clean and very moreish.

UPDATED: OCT 4, 2016 On tap at the Garden Shed. Aroma is subdued but there’s some spice, biscuit and apple notes. Flavour is much better, I’m getting lots of biscuit and toasted walnuts, with some ginger and cinnamon stuff. There’s some bitterness from the hops too, but the malts definitely win. Really nice example of the style.

[8212-20160509] 500mL bottle. Fruity orange citrus hops aroma. Clear, bright red amber body with a medium-lasting foamy off-white head. Bitter orange peel and toasted citrus hops flavour. Medium body is fairly bitter. Very good, great balance. (7/4/8/4/15) 3.8

2016-05-09. Crisp red amber body with a modest beige head. 3+ Aroma is modest, fruity hops and moderate malt. Flavour is moderately bitter throughout, fruity hops, lightly caramel touches. Smooth average bodied palate, soft carbonation. Enjoyable but maltier overall than my preference. Bottle from Hallertau Brewbar, Auckland, NZ. 7/3-4/7/3/15
