Cask; Regular. Also available in pasteurised bottle.
This premium bitter has a distinctly malty character with a hint of nuttiness. The enhanced hopping rate recreates for many the good old days of a true Yorkshire bitter. Stallion gained the coveted award of Champion Beer at the 1994 York Festival.

tombyars (1640) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - DEC 30, 2011
First tasted this at the Printing Room, Glasgow in September 1997. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear copper red in colour with a thin white head. Sweet toffee note in the short aroma. Thin but creamy mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malt gives a digestive biscuit note with creamy toffee flavours. Good prickle of dusty hops present in the resiny aftertaste. Malt returns in the sweet finish with vinous oak cask notes. A decent session bitter.

From cask at Charlies. Pours cloudy orange with a lacing off-white head. Light toasted to breadish dry malt aroma. Flavour follows this with a mild fruity note in addition. Light liqourice note into the finish. Finish holds a light bitterness yet still mixed with the same malt flavours. Very pleasent biter.

Cask in Station Bar. This was noteably warm. Artoma is nutty malts, grassy, clishgt lemon note. Taste is again nutty a bit grainy malt, grassy finish.

Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. Amber. Bland malty aroma. Some roast in the taste with some sharp bitterness at the finish. I find I dont get on too well with Hambleton beers. This is an exception. Quite decent.

Bottle. Amber with a moderate white head. Aroma began with some floral hops and then became a touch earthy. The flavour started with some malt before the same earthiness, almost farmyard-like came through. The finish was bitter with some more floral hops. Pleasant.
