UPDATED: JAN 29, 2017 Never had aquavit before so here goes. Aromas of cocoa, chocolate, mint, pine. Slightly medicinal. Flavors of smoke and pepper heat come through in the taste. As others have stated, this is a challenging beer to drink. Interesting and unique. Grows on me the more I drink it. jackl (8597) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JAN 21, 2017
Keg @ Hammerheart. Deep brown pour with a creamy tan head. Nose is strong on the aquavit and spice. Juniper berry, dill. Some cocoa. Flavor is well rounded. Aquavit tang. Berry. Light tartness. Pumpernickel bread. Supple and well rounded. This is excellent. A challenging beer that delivers in spades. Nsanders (1193) - St Paul, Minnesota, USA - JAN 14, 2017
Tap at brewery. Thick black with a quickly fading head. Dill, spruce, light ginger, wood, herbal, sugar and graham cracker aromas. Light sweetness with a woody, herbal aftertaste. Heavy body that feels lighter from crisp carbonation. Bacterial (3080) - Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA - DEC 29, 2016
Dark black pour at the brewery. Roasted malt and licorice nose. Taste is somewhat harsh with some interesting barrel notes, botanical king-fu and smoked malt and bitter hops. Finish is metallic.

UPDATED: SEP 15, 2016 Sampled from the tap at Winter Dabbler. Pours black with a dark brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of roasted malts, dark grain and a bit of Aquavit barrel coming through. Flavor works beautifully with dark grains, roasted malts, a touch of spruce and a bit of Aquavit barrel in the finish. Ericular (1045) - Minnesota, USA - MAR 29, 2016
Pours black with a chocolate head. Aroma is Christmas tree and assorted holiday spices. A bit medicinal. Taste is strong, a very nice holiday warmer with more medicinal undertones. Strong, sweet spirits and bourbon. Aftertaste is roasted malts and coffee. Super good winter beer. islay (3185) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JAN 29, 2016
5 oz. pour, on tap at the brewery’s taproom in Lino Lakes, Minnesota. Consumed on 1-27-16. Pours dark brown with a moderate amount of taupe head. Good lacing. Juicy smell. Scents of apple cider and mulled wine as well as spiced rum. Unusual smell that I wasn’t expecting. Boozy, burnt malt taste. Really cool flavor. Smoky. The flavor has that apple cider zip of the aroma. Rum flavor. Long, bitter, burnt malt, heavily roasted aftertaste. Medium body, lighter than I expected. Good stuff, although it is weird and is somewhat hard to drink after multiple sips. BVery (11494) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - FEB 13, 2015
Tap at HammerHeart. Very dark dense looking pour with a brown head. Aroma is a great potpourri of Christmas spices. Medium and smooth on the tongue. Little bit of spiciness late on taste.
