3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap at Hammerheart. Pours black with brown head. I get some mint, pine? and chocolate on the nose. Flavor is similar with a thin palate. Missing the barrel I was hoping for :(
Tap sample. Poured black color with medium frothy tan head that lasted with excellent lacing. Aroma is very complex with roasted chocolate, wood and dark spice. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Moderate to heavy dark sweet flavor and moderate to heavy complex dark sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Solid complex beer. phaleslu (10462) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - AUG 22, 2014
Draft at Ei8ht Ball, part of a sampler tray. Pours a deep, opaque brown with a small brown head. Notes of rich roasted malts, earthy hops, dark chocolate, brown sugar, oak, caramel, spice, dark berry fruits, juniper, and ash. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a rich, roasty mouthfeel. Gets sweeter in the nose and roastier in the flavor as it warms. I like this quite a bit, and that’s 2/2 that have really impressed me by this brewer. Keep them coming. Draft at Ei8ht Ball. Pours dark brown to black in color with a small tan head that collapsed to a thin ring. The aroma and flavor have dark roasted malt, chocolate, Christmas spices, cinnamon, vanilla, mint, wood, and light bourbon. The finish is dry with roast, spices, and moderate bitterness. Medium bodied, fairly enjoyable. DrSilverworm (9671) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUN 10, 2014
Taster on tap at Ei8ht Ball. Black color. Good thin brown head. Leaves good, thicker lace. Nice chocolate, roast notes of a stout, and winter spices of a winter ale (cinnamon, ginger, etc.). Medium to bigger body. Smooth, crisp, lighter carbonation. Lightly slick. Nice vanilla notes. Kind of a spicy taste, mild to moderate sweet, mild bitter. Light hint of alcohol in the end, and some woody barrel notes. Solid, interesting, tasty complex barrel aged winter spiced stout.

Draft to taster at Ei8ht Ball. Looks good; an opaque dull black with foamy mocha head. Smells of dark malt and roast with notes of spices and oak; don’t get much bourbon though. Tastes like it smells with a solid mouthfeel. Good, not great. arminjewell (9689) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - FEB 18, 2014
Pour on tap at the brewery, dark black pour with tan head, aroma brought notes of roast, cocoa, fruity pebbles, andes mint, hints of oak, vanilla, slight bourbon, lots of herbal/potpourri type notes are what really dominate. Taste is a mix of mint, herbs, flowers into some fruity pebble, odd notes, slight oak, bourbon notes, hints of dark roast, smoke, finishing sweet, slightly bitter. Tap at Hammerheart. Very dark pour with a clingy brown head. Mild mint and vanilla, bourbon is very soft. Dryer on the finish. Good. Nuffield (4187) - Roseville, Minnesota, USA - JAN 31, 2014
Thick, dark color, great color head. Bitter, roasted notes emerge, along with some spice. I didn’t mind the subtlety of the bourbon. Good. (on tap at Winter Beer Dabbler, January 2014).
