DIBBLE (167) - Worthing, West Sussex, ENGLAND - APR 29, 2015
Clear deep dark red beer with brief tan head. Slight lacing. Bready, nutty aroma. Bright mouthfeel. Flavour is full, balanced and moreish. A malty, walnutty character with a herbal hopped dry finish. wheresthepath (2405) - Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - AUG 21, 2008
[on handpump at the Retreat, Reading] Pours a very attractive deep bronze-brown, with amber highlights - like a naturally dark-haired female pop star’s new hairdo. No head and no carbonation. Smells beguilling - hints of smoke and blackcurrant. Taste not quite as strong as aroma suggested - just a hint of smoke, some stewed fruits, a bit of leather, some red wine and some treacle, with just the right amount of bitterness to prevent it feeling sticky. Reminded me of a cross between a mild (maybe Pint-Sized Mild) and an old ale (perhaps Stonehenge Old Smokey), but without quite the depth or finish of either. Nevertheless, this is a very enjoyable brew that I could happily drink again. Recommended. c8 hughie (3996) - Bedford, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - JUN 12, 2010
Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. Amber brown with a small off white head. Rough malt aroma with a touch of marmalade. Pleasant full sweet malt taste, a little peppery, with some bitterness. Hammerpot don’t seem to be getting the best of ratings, however I’ve had a couple this week. Martlet was pretty good. This one, I thought was first class. Well done. maeib (8749) - Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - MAY 26, 2011

Cask at the Claret. It pours clear deep brown with a medium off-white head. The aroma is rich, sweet toffee, light cocoa, wood, leather and brown bread. The taste is smooth, rich, bitter - sweet, toffee, dark fruits, wood, light spice, chewy malt and brown bread with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Great condition. Rich and pretty flavoursome. Good bitter. SaintMatty (7555) - Uppsala, SWEDEN - JAN 14, 2009
Cask (South Western Arms, Southampton) - Brown/copper coloured. Malty and lightly fruity aroma. Lightly sweet and hoppy taste with a well balanced hoppy, malty and fruity finish which features a hint of caramel and chocolate. imdownthepub (15381) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - JAN 5, 2013
Cask conditioned at The Turf Tavern, Oxford. Chestnut with slight head. A pretty smooth, malty beer with heavy toffee, caramel flavours. Quite cloying and a touch sweet for me to really enjoy it. Not totally sure about this one. berkshirejohn (6687) - Bracknell, Berkshire, ENGLAND - AUG 3, 2010
Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. Hazy reddish copper in colour with a thin cream head; full malty aroma; earthy sweet malt flavours and a gently bitter finish. Very pleasant.
