Cask at the Kings Arms, Stoborough, Dorset, 21-06-06. Mmmhh.. not really sure what this beer was up to, it was passed to me looking more like a warm golden colour, and one imediately got a very citric aroma, I think it seemed a little unbalanced, yes it was bitter and perfectly drinkable but it was a case of putting all of the eggs in one basket with too much emphasis on the bitterness and no balance elsewhere. Takeaway from Bright Cask @ Winchester Farmers Market. The flavour of the beer changed significantly from when I drank it the first day and finishing off the second half the next day.
Day 1 - Initial yeasty blast followed by rich herbal/floral hops. Full bitterness, very refreshing and drinkable.
Day 2 - More balanced and complex aroma with the addition of treacly malt aromas. Thinner body.
If only the aroma of the second day could be combined with the body of the first.
