COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

On the mild side, of an doppelbock. So easy drinkable, for everone. Nice big bottle.

Copenhagen 21/5 2016. 70 cl bottle from Meny. Black label with gothic letters to get you in the right Central European mood. Pours clear dark brown with off-white head. Disappears quite quickly. Aroma is quite sweet. Syrup, caramel and honey. A sharp bitter sour edge with a whiff of alcohol. Medium carbonation with oily and sticky palate. Taste is overwhelmingly sweet and intense. Only very light bitterness. Aftertaste is quite sweet as well almost drowning out the healthy amount of alcohol involved. A bit too much on the sweet side for my taste.

Bottle. Pours clear chestnut with medium brown head. Aroma is sweet malt, caramel, sugar and malt syrup. Taste is medium to very sweet and light bitter. Body is oily with soft carbonation. Finish is long and sweet with notes of malt, caramel, toffee and black coffee. Sweet and round

This bock is quite nice foamy and nice dark color with a golden glow. The flavor is similar to my expectations; abundant dark malt tones and only a slight hop in the background. But the taste gets me on quite other thoughts. It has the caramel malt as a bock should have, but too excessive amount. Normally, Hancock easily surprise me positively, but here I definitely think that they have set type correctness little too much on the tip. It’s possible that this almost syrupy sweetness has had to raise the alcohol up to 8.1, but I have tasted much better bocks with much less alcohol.
