2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: NOV 17, 2007 May, 2003 <a href=http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/11/116 Saddle Inn, Blackpool. The first of the <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/Beer-News/Article-185 Rocks beer weekend was this sad excuse for a beer. The pub was great - an ancient inn with individual rooms complete with bells to push for service. The beer, as with all the beers during the weekend, was served in the Northern style with a smooth, frothy head. There was a smooth, but slightly watery mouthfeel, delivering a mild oaky fruit - slightly sour, almost a soft vinegar. Some flowery lemon up front, then some apple. A slight tingle in the mildly hoppy finish. Aroma was reduced because of the Northern style of serving, but there was some oak. [1.7]
April, 2006 Fleur de Lys, Burham Thin, slightly metallic tasting with lots of fruit - strawberry mainly. Flat finish. A woody, slightly damp centre runs through it all. I’m undecided about this. It’s interesting, but the thin, well attenuated quality is just too much like lager, but without the carbonation. [2.7]
July, 2007JDW, Gravesend A fruit session bitter. Modest character. Tastes flabby and blurred. Late hop pellet awareness in the finish. Acceptable. [2.7]
Had the life pasteurized out of it fine looking smooth reasonable if a little bland. tommann (3801) - Dudley, West Midlands, ENGLAND - APR 9, 2017

Rugby Club, Walsall. Amber beer with large head. Aroma is light malt. Taste is malts, caramel and a little yeast. Dull.
On cask at the Beacon, Wellington.
Appearance - deep amber with a decent head.
Nose - hay, sweet malt.
Taste - light toffee and sweet malt. The toffee increases and becomes a bit too much after a while.
Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a finish that could be fresher.
Overall - initially pleasant enough but became a bit sickly. dchad56 (519) - - FEB 1, 2015

Cask ’sample’ @ the opening night of a new ’Smoke House’ near my house on the outskirts of Shrewsbury. Badged and described by staff as their own beer. It wasn’t. Fobbed up out the glass. Weak, watery with brown bread, dirty malt and not a lot else. Boring brown bitter. Iznogud (3926) - CROATIA - JUN 13, 2014
Cask in the Rummer Tavern, Cardiff. Pours amber with small white head. Malty and bready flavor. Hint of hops. Nothing too good. MissPxx (991) - Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 30, 2014
Hardly there aroma. Medium brown colour. Very hoppy and fruity taste. Tastes like a slush puppy.
