Really.....you guys (in the Midwest sense) are more pretentious then the wine weenies....this is a freaking tasty, dark, slug of a beer. Period. myfriendbubba (40) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - FEB 22, 2015

Have had this one 2 times. At bottle release on tap and purchased 6 bottles (3 were stolen :( ). Very boozy. Smooth. Has a slight licorice nose. One of the deepest beers I have had. danrcook (25) - California, USA - MAY 14, 2013
On tap at Crazy Harrys. This beer pours like a melted chocolate. Deep and dark with a thickness like no other. The head was minimal, to be expected with this style and the nose was rich with complexity. Hints of dark chocolate, lots of bourbon and oakyness. Incredible beer. A must have for dark beer lovers. jimsouthwick (3) - Victorville, USA - FEB 4, 2015 does not count
I had this beer on tap at the Whiskey Barrel in Hesperia, CA. Great beer. I also bought a few bottles at Gerrard’s Grocery store in Redlands.

2013 Black with tan head that dissipates. Bittersweet and milk chocolate, pronounced hazelnut, earthy espresso that carries into a long dry finish. Very faint heat for a beer this size. Padron4KM (810) - Chandler, Arizona, USA - DEC 7, 2015
750 ml bottle, 2015 edition. Inky black, thin tan head, thick rings of lace.Countbeer (6592) - Best of E-Town mit 2 Brauhausen, NETHERLANDS - JAN 31, 2016
Aroma is chocolate, bourbon, oak, charred wood, smoke, vanilla, prunes. Maple syrup emerges as it warms.
Flavor is chocolate, vanilla, oak, smoke, creamy coffee, dark fruit, bourbon, some maple on the finish.
Soft carbonation and creamy mouth-feel.
So after friends drank my 2013 bottle and filled it with water creating a good joke, I was pissed, to say the least. I arranged a new bottle and they paid the bottle and shipment back (around €35 a person, which they were quite shocked about afterwards... Who laughs last...)
So it’s time to open the 2014 (#9453/11220) bottle which is also higher in ABV, yay...
The kvlt Chouffe glass is as always present:
Black beer. Brown head.
The nose has some incredible rich tones of chocolate, vanilla, molasses, fudge, sweet roast, mocha, light wood roast, light raisin, liquor and an earthy sprinkle... Great balanced dominating roast, whiskey and chocolate tones. Incredible!
The flavour is very subtle for almost 19%ABV! Light and soft alcohol burn with some roast, bourbon, mocha, fudge, cookies, chocolate, light vanilla, wood roast, some cacoa, some bitters, light earthy and a caramel sprinkle. Very nice!
Aftertaste is roasty, light spice, bourbon, some chocolate, bitters, wood roast, some mocha...
Low carbo, light creamy light spiced mouthfeel, close to full body.
Very very nice beer! Wonderful aroma and great flavours. Tasty!
