Very fruity with overtones of banana and cherries and caramel. The head had a definite bourbon aroma and taste. Not much head lifetime or
Resilience but it's a really complex barley wine style golden ale.

Aroma is initially fruity, but later the bourbon comes on long & strong. This is interesting. Lots of fruit, mostly orange but tons of bourbon as well and a bit of old paint feel as well. An ever-changing beer, which changes my opinion from sip to sip. Overall, quite tasty, just a tad too noticeable in alcohol content. Baadnewsbear (17) - - MAY 19, 2013
5-19-13 from the tap room in Redlands.
Pours a hazy golden color with little to no head. Lots of bubbles. Smells of bourbon and spices, some yeast and carmel. Taste is a light sour, plum, cherries, bourbon, vanilla, and maybe some tart fruit like cranberries or passion fruit. Mouthfeel was on the heavier side but very smooth for an 11.9% beer. Overall, this beer is a delightful addition to the barrel roll series. Bought a bottle to save for 5 years, lets see how long that last!

Tap at Newport Pizza in OB. Hazy medium orange golden with a one finger off-white head, fair retention. Reminds me of Allagash Curieaux, which is not a bad comparison. Has less of the hot Jack Daniels boozy notes, though. Fruity yeasty pear, tinge of citrus, moderate caramel and even some light grape, bourbon barrels and a bit of vanilla oak backing. Flavor follows, good amount of pear, nice desserty creme brulee bourbon vanilla caramel notes. No hops to speak of. Semi-dry with bitterness peaking at a 2.not too barrely, as a few of their offerings have been. Pretty tasty. I like it more than Curieaux. kraddel (8579) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - MAY 17, 2014

Tasted at the 8th Annual Bistro Barrel Aged Beer Fest on Nov 9, 2013. This Belgian Strong Ale pours a medium orange gold color from the tap. Medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity, sweet, banana and bourbon. A medium bodied Belgian Strong Ale. The malts are fruity and sweet, bananas and bourbon. The hops are floral. Nice carbonation. Nice bourbon and wood flavors. Very smooth taste, nicely balanced. Good sipping beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. slowrunner77 (12456) - Reno, Nevada, USA - JUN 17, 2016
What a pleasant surprise - barrel influence is there in this blonde ale, but seems light in comparison to other barrel roll beers. Fruity aroma and flavor with moderate undertones of vanilla and oak, and just a touch of yeast. Smooth and tasty.
The buttered popcorn Fallen Leag has been the only beer in this series that was less than very good. beersearcher (2382) - Glendale, California, USA - JAN 23, 2014
At the Beer Belly - One Night Stand. Pours a dark amber with hints of red. Aroma is faintly Belgian-esque with spice notes. The taste is quite dry like a white wine. Getting some grape tannin notes as well. Goes through a progression of flavors.
