On tap at Real, Wild & Woody Beer Festival, pours deep dark orangey brown with a small tan head. Aroma brings out lots of whiskey barrels upfront, followed by caramel and dark fruits. [2/12/15] Draught at The Sycamore in San Francisco. 2013 edition. Black with a nice creamy head. Lovely aroma full of chocolate, bourbon, vanilla and coconut. On tap at the Beer Baron. This one pours a dark hazy amber color with an off white head. The aroma has huge notes of maple, bourbon and caramel. The flavor is very sweet and boozy with big vanilla, oak and bourbon barrel influence. Background notes of dark fruit and butterscotch. Very heavy handed. Not much else going on besides the big booziness you get from every other big barrel aged beer. On that though, it delivers.

Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours fairly dark brown with a beige head. B/V aroma. Full bodied or nearly. This on is strongly bourbon. With a treacle trail. Definitely on the brown sugar side. It may need to age a bit. Must have been a "hot" barrel. Rating this on the bourbon! On tap @ Strong Ale 2013. Hazed/murky amber pour with a khaki head. Maple syrup, caramel, and whiskey on the aroma. Nice vanilla, raisin, and a touch of toast. Flavor is very sweet and malt forward. Tap at Raglan in OB. Murky medium brown with a two finger creamy beige head, good retention. Big boozy sweet vanilla and bourbon up front, even some French vanilla ice cream richness. Plenty of caramel and some light nuttiness in the nose, a little chocolate. Flavor doesn’t quite have the dessert quality to it, as the booze gets a little rougher and brash, but only compared to the aroma. Still vanilla, less ice cream. I was afraid this was going to be a little sweet, but the alcohol and barrel have done a good job drying things out. Semi-dry finish, bitterness peaked at a 2-3. On tap. Cloudy brown with a thin creamy off white head. Big multigrain bread, molasses, rye whiskey and dough aroma and taste with an oaky bourbon finish and a chewy medium bodied palate.
