Polycot is a wheat beer brewed with hundreds of pounds of organic apricots grown in Southern Californias High Desert. We brew this beer during the very small window of time when the apricots are at their peak of freshness, usually early July. The pureed apricots add a wonderful fruit flavor to the beer and combine with the wheat for a refreshing tart finish. This beer goes down smooth, but at over 1.5 times the alcohol of the Orange Wheat, it will sneak up on you. Additional Information: The name Polycot (Poly=Many cot=Apricot) is a modification of the original name Paulycot. Paul-yicot was named for owner Ben Cooks friend Paul who provided the apricots for the initial batch. Hangar 24 would also like to acknowledge and thank the many volunteers who spend hours pitting (and de-stickering) thousands of apricots for the brew. We couldnt make this wonderful beer without you!

UPDATED: JUN 18, 2009 #100. Draft at the brewery, the only place you can get it so far. Poured a dark orange witha nice white head. Extremely cloudy, light cant penetrate through it. Aroma of fresh apricots. Tasted like fresh apricots as well, with a slight tartness in the backround, very nice. A nice drinker for the summer, but at 7.1% can sneak up on you. real good beer.

Pours a hazy light golden color. With a thick four finger head. Good retention. Smells of fermented wheat, lemon and apricot. Tastes of apricot, wheat, grass, and yeast. Apricots linger strong on the palate. An excellent summer brew. Soft and flavorful

Not bad at all. Truth in advertising -- wheat, apricots, blah blah blah. I wouldnt me a bit less sweetness.

growler thanks to Hophead22, pours light orange with a thin white head. Looks just like orange juice in the glass. Aroma is wet grass, wheat, oats and of course, apricots. Faint notes of alcohol as well. Flavor is very nice, this is creamy as hell, pale malts, sweet wheat and apricot with a mild tartness in the vein of orange peel in the finish with not a trace of the boozy aroma. This is delicious stuff, light and delicate but with tons of good flavors going on and would be very nice in the morning or served with a brunch.

Bottle (thanks to goodbyeohio for sharing)... Poured hazy, pale yellow with a white head. This was awesome stuff and worked well in hot weather. Apricots dried it out, and created a wonderful stone fruit flavor to match the wheat characters. Some estery notes too. Smooth and easy drinking and came off as a session even with its 7.2%. Could drink a ton of this stuff.

Appearance: Pours a bright yellow gold with a small white film.

Aroma: Citrus bouquet. Apricot. Beautiful.

Taste: Fruity tangy apricot jam, banana forward wheat profile. No bitterness.

Mouthfeel: Full bodied. Juicy. Moderate bubbles.

Overall: Super refreshing, and the alcohol is so well hidden.

On tap at Hangar 24. Pours a solid orange color with a decent white head. Aroma is fresh fruits (apricots obviously) and bready wheat. Flavor is tart and refreshing, almost all apricots but surprisingly little sweetness. Medium bodied with sharp but balanced carbonation.
