Pitch black and opaque with a one finger off-white head that quickly settled into a thin, lasting ring. Splotchy lacing left behind.
Spicy aroma with prominent rye, grassy hops, dark roasted malt and silky sweetness. The rye and piney hops really stand out along with cocoa, toffee and coffee bean. Spicy rye and hops compliment each other nicely and are countered by a complex malt backbone.
On the lighter end of medium bodied with spicy rye and a crisp, spicy hop bite that lingers over the dark malt backbone into a bone finish. Easy to drink with the rye and hops dominating but still has some nice roast and lighter malt sweetness balancing things out. On tap at Golden Road’s opening party. Pours with a hazed deep brown hue with a medium sized tan head. Aromas are a bit roasty, nutty, spicy, rye with some light citrus hop characters. Flavors are roasty, nutty, bready, grainy and spicy. Kind of malt forward for my taste in anything with "India ___ Ale" attached to the name. Hop character is resiny, grapefruit and a bit dank. Draft @ Blue Palms in Hollywood. Black with tan head and has lovely cannabis hop plus grapefruit aroma. Nice bitter finish is dry and roasty. Very good. All the conflicting flavors actually work really well together. Smooth, which is not often there for a rye beer. Good.

Big thanks to the Tucson tasting hosts fata2683 and Mrs fata2683. The growler poured mahogany with bubbly white head. The aroma is nice and spicy with rye spiciness, some malts, burnt malt notes and a decent bit of spicy anise too. The taste is similar with yummy bold spicy rye and spicy hops mixing with pleasing notes of dark roasted malts to burnt malts. Growler brought from the Brewery. Consumed 2 days later. Metallic, piney, hop aromas present. Just a scant amount of underlying roastiness. A little spicy. Mostly transparent cola-colored body, with a big, frothy light tan head. Starts pretty light without much in the way of flavor, before this becomes roasted and spicy (due to the rye) in the middle. Dark brown pour. Resin, rye, bread and toffee. Flavor is hoppy and bready, resin. Pretty good.
