Received as an extra from a friend on BA. Thanks a bunch Phil! Pours a complete flat deep purple in color with an aggressive pour. It’s completely opaque in clarity. Nose is heavy funk, decadent black current, sharp lemon, horse blanket, and wet dog. Flavor is overtly sour lemon off the bat, then it falls back on the black currant. It has some backing funk and vinegar, but this is almost entirely lactic in sourness. Light mouthfeel, no carbonation, moderate to heavy acidity, and a long finish. Wasn’t much of a fan of hanssens prior to this weekend, but after having the Oude Kriek and now this, I think I am becoming a convert. This is crazy sour, but has really nice black currant character as well. Interested in seeing how these are with age on them.

375 ml bottle. Pours a garnet red with very light white head. Dusty rich aromas of red berries and currants with just a touch of funk. Rich flavors of tart berries, currants, salal and wheat. Beauty.

37.5 cl bottle, served in wine glass. Vintage: 2016. Poured hazy bordeaux red with no head at all and very little carbonation. Aroma: black currants, tart, oak, lambic, leaves in autumn wood, menure, barnyard. Taste: Oooooh this is so friggin good! Black currants, sour, dry, oak barrel, barnyard, cherry, vinous tannine, vinegar, citrus, leather, wet earth. Very sour with dry tannine mouthfeel. The heavy sourness really makes me salivate between the sips and longing for more. The sweetness is very subtile from the currants and also tastes very natural. Very complex and nuanced, a medium body with a very long sour, dry bittersweet finish. It almost contains no carbonation at all but that doesn’t bother me one bit, this Lambic stands on it’s own and has more to do with wine than with beer in my opinion. This is just absolutely divine nectar and really a textbook example of how to blend fruit with Lambic...delicious!

Bottle from back of my cellar, enjoyed at Aaserød as my rating # 8888. Pours murky deep red/amber with only a thin layer of bubbles. Aroma of acidic berries, blackcurrant , oak, nice and inviting. Taste is vinous, lots of oak here, acidic black currents, dry berry finish, low carbonated, weak astringent at the utter finish, me like.

Labelled as Cassis, not Experimental Cassis. Deep purple. No head. Very little carbonation. Loads of blackcurrant with a tart, dry finish. Drinks like a juice with a bit of alcohol added, really.

Lambic aroma. No head. No carbonation, yes you ain’t gonna find a single bubble on there. Aftertaste of sweet fruits. Like some unusual ice cream flavors at the parlour.

At first I was disappoint, as the beer is really really flat and I had trouble to find any trace of cassis. After a few sip, the typical acidic taste of lambic beer gives his place to the fruity part, which is nice. Interesting but would be really nicer with bubbles

Clear purple appearance with no head. Aroma is a bit soapy and has some paint. Similar flavour.

Aromat trochę standard dla Hanssens czyli ocet winny, lekko mokra skóra, nuta wiśniowa i porzeczkowa. W tle nawet trochę obory. Smak dosyć słodki z uwagi na wysoki ocet winny, lekko kwaśne w typie lakto. W smaku wino, ocet winny, skóra, siano, porzeczka i wiśnia, muśnięcie beczki. Posmak wytrawny, minimalnie taniczny i pestkowy. Fajne uczucie w ustach, bo mimo tego octu, nie pali w gardło, jest gładko i przyjemnie. Nawet wzzystko do siebie pasuje, choć boję się że będę miał zgagę po całej butelce.

Bottle shared during the TST/TWAT tasting. Pours a dark ruby with a small off-white head. The fruits in this are subdued, I’m getting some blackberry and light cherry but there is a very heavy funk on this, bit poo-like, burnt plastic, horse blanket. It’s over medium sour, light sweet. Medium body and low carbonation. Apparently there is quite some bottle variation on this, should re-rate it some time.
