UPDATED: FEB 23, 2015 Bottle: Thanks, Kevin! Vibrant orange body, yielding no head or carbonation at all... Oily looking, almost like a still mead. Aroma is lovely with notes of strawberry, sweet & almost candy-like. Hints of barnyard hay & lightly sweaty funk back up the strawberry fruits. Wow - the first sip is unexpectedly sour. Incredibly sour, puckering... Aroma smelled more sweet, but the taste is all sour. Loses complexity... Less strawberry & funk, more of a lactic, lemon flesh & sweettart sourness that rips through everything. Very timid strawberry & musty funk in the finish, but the acidic notes tower over everything. Moderate vinegar throughout. Flat, oily mouth feel, really wish this was carbonated better (or at all). I love the ripping sourness of the beer, just wish it maintained more of the complexity of the strawberries & funk on the palate. Appearance/body hurts the score, this would be better with proper carbonation.

Bottle in the morning whilst watching Trainspotting. Homework before going to see T2. It produced not so much as a hiss when the cork came out. The same thing happened with the Hanssen Frambozenlamik. Is lack of carbonation a Hanssens thing? Lovely jammy Strawberry aroma. Quite a vinegar vibe also. An expensive artisanal vinegar. Id have appreciated a touch of carbonation to liven up the experience. Really enjoyed it but a pop would have really made it pop.

Feb 2017 - 375ml cork and cage bottle at home in Richmond, 2012 bottling from the stash, as Hanssens Oudbeitje, 6%. Pours orange with a slight haze, just the odd rising bubble and no real head. Aroma is a touch acetic, varnish, blood orange and strawberry juice. Body is smooth and rounded, fairly oily with lowish carbonation. Taste is tangy balsamic strawberries, bracing tartness that will wake you up if youre flagging, cleansing tooth-coating acidity. Bright and pretty sour. Whew. Slow drinking - could only drink a full bottle of this with some big-carb food.

Wild strawberries, some red currant, vinegar, leather, funk in nose. Pours golden, pink-ish without head. Taste is sour with great flavour of slightly unriped strawberries, vinegar, hay, funky notes. Finish is long, tart, earthy, completely flat carbonation not disturbs at all. Overall amazing stuff, almost mindblowing.

Good beer, nice lambic, but not a lot of strawberries, it is really hard fruit for the beer.

ContemplateBeer (2053) - Louisville, Kentucky, USA - JAN 6, 2017
12.7 oz. bottle from Louisville Beer Store, mostly to myself (Boo hated it); bottled in January 15. Aroma: Pretty funky/musty with lighter, overripe strawberry notes. Appearance: Hazy, unfiltered caramel gold with no real head formation or carbonation. Flavor: Starts out lightly funky and flat (both flavor & carbonation-wise); afterwards, tart strawberry swoops in with intensity; tartness does not easily abate; a bit of yoghurt lingers as well. Palate: Light body, slick texture, flat carbonation, long finish. Overall: I see the promise here, but, as is, this really feels somehow incomplete or diminished. With appropriate carbonation, and a fruited Stilton, I could see this being divine.
