COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As with all Gueuzes, Hanssens is a mixture of several vintages to produce a lambic which is refreshingly fruity.

This is the result of blending different lambics of different ages. The second fermentation takes place inside the bottles and therefore they are stored for minimum six months in constant temperature kept cellars.

UPDATED: MAR 26, 2005 Hazy orange-amber colour with white head. Clean lambic aroma is mainly leathery, with just a hint of cheesiness. Very tart palate, aggressive, some stank feet, apple, lots of leather and a fair amount of barrel character. Body is spritzy, moderate. Finish is leathery, with a woody dryness and a kiss of sweetness right at the end.

UPDATED: DEC 30, 2008 Bottled, 37.5cl chamgagne-cork. Unclear, orange beer with some clouds and a nice white head. The nose is barnyard, apple, fruit, yeast, cellar and quite sour. Nice flavor with yeast, cellar, citrus and green apples. Quite astringent and fizzy in the mouth, with a long sour finish. Really lovely after 5 Swedish swills. Palate-cleaning. Rating: 7-4-7-4-15-3.7. (060824)

Bottle, 37.5cl corked. A hazy, orange beer with a white head. Horse blanket, some wheat and citrus in the aroma. The flavor is much the same, but the citrus and horse blanket are more evident than the wheat. Astringent, tart and citrusy. Plain lovely, more-ish and refreshing. (080926)

375mL bottle, pours a cloudy orangey gold with a small white head. Aroma brings out medium acidic notes, light horse blanket, very low funk for a gueuze, and some tart apricot-like fruits. Flavour brings out lightly tart apricots, medium acidity, low barnyard funk, and some light white wine-y notes. Finishes medium acidic and a little vinous. Very dry palate, with no sweetness and medium sourness for the style -- fairly low funky quality for the style. Excellent stuff.

A: The usual cloudy, sparkling, yellow-gold liquid with a bit of white foam on top that dissipates somewhat quickly. S: You can tell this one is going to be great just from the nose. Tart lemon and lactic acid, along with a nice musty and earthy quality. T: This one starts off with a tongue buckling sourness to it. Wonderful lemon and green apple flavors, in terms of the fruit. There is a slight bit of oak and a dry funkiness. M: Very effervescent and medium in body with that wonderful dryness. D: Theres only so much of this stuff you can drink before it burns a hole in your stomach, but even then, Id probably keep drinking it. One of the better Gueuzes Ive had, and at the price, you cant beat it.

375ml bottle - thanks martjoobolut! (6:3:7:3:14=3.3)
Extremely sharp aroma, almost vinegary. Extremely sharp taste, but very nice apricot still remains. Sour dominated, but deep down theres a fullness in the wood esters that makes you love it!
Rerate: 375ml bottle (?, ?) (7:3:7+:4:15=3.6+)
Very nicely mellowed. Lovely apricot. Sourness still there. of course. Dang, magnificent, Apricot all over the finish. Aging worked wonderfully.
