3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle (375ml). My 1100th rating - still two months to my one-year RateBeer anniversary! Poured a beautiful apricot-ruby with virtually no head. Aroma - oh my God that’s wonderful - sour citrus, yeast, wet wool, a hint of burnt rubber, wet aged cedar firewood, *maybe* a hint of cherry - it’s certainly sour. Taste - sour lemon, sour cherry, yeast, white wine vinegar - this is flat yet still somewhat lively, sticky, heavily acidic - almost pleasant and juicy compared to some of the extreme lambics I’ve tried (hello Girardin Black Label) but very drinkable, fruity without being sweet - it seems sort of sweet in the aftertaste, but it’s all about the juicy funk and sourness when you’re drinking it. Pleasant.
750ml bottle (thx, Alex G.!) shared with wife. Pours a reddish brown with a rose head. Aroma is cherry and balsamic vinegar. Similar taste. Too much balsamic in this one. MetalNHopHead (1976) - Lincoln, Nebraska, USA - JUN 21, 2017
Hanssens Oude Kriek is a brilliant example of the Belgian Fruit Lambic. Aroma reveals high levels of both funkiness and fruitiness. Pour is little darker than your average Kriek. Tart cherry, vinegar, sherry, and barnyard flavor notes. Dry, vinous, and acidic feel. I certainly would be tempted to save a bottle for a very long time and see how it matures. A- Cherry, pool water, tart.
A- Dark red color, clear liquid, light pink head.
T- Sour, tart, funky, cherry.
P- Light body, average texture, medium carbonation, tart finish.
O- 3 years aged before bottling and 2 years on the shelf. At 5 years this was pretty good. Can’t imagine if I actually held it for 30 years. Still a little to funky for me but good. nordic (637) - Tartu, ESTONIA - MAY 19, 2017

Bottle - Medium roasted malts, cherry with a touch of balsamic. Deep jet maroon with a small white head. Acidic, cherry, little soy harshness. ctipping (2047) - Florida, USA - FEB 28, 2017
375 mL bottle. Pours a deep, kinda murky red. Has a collar with big discrete bubbles. Smells of sour cherries, a little bit of vinegar, and some oak. Tastes really sour. Vinegar. Some lemon. Sour cherry. Intense, deep sour finish. Medium body with low carbonation. Too sour, but it’s got a pretty good flavor. solidfunk (8943) - Washington D.C., Washington DC, USA - FEB 23, 2017
Cherry and lots of grapefruit lambic bretta. Wild vibe like naked motorcycle rides. Opaque ruby pour without any head or lacing. Tangy and slightly acidic finish. Bottle pour at Sovereign.
