Bottle from hop city bought about 8 months ago - aroma is sour cherries. The dark ruby brew tastes sour with a tart bite, finishes like watery syrup. Overall, solid.

Bottle at the Grote Dorst. Deep crimson color, flat. Tart cherry nose, yogurt, leather, blenket. Quite tart flavor though not overwhelmingly sour. Lovely cherry, stones, almond, great nutty flavor, some yogurt. Nice stuff.

Pours a nice burgundy color with no head. It has a strong funky, dusty, and earthy aroma with some cherry in the background. The flavor is sour cherries throughout, with a slight sweetness in the middle that turns into a long, sour finish over a flat, medium body.

37,5cl bottle. Bought at Tour de Geuze 2013. Shared with Mathieu87. APPEARANCE: red, deep dark red beer, no foam. Flat. NOSE: little syrupy, little cherries, little sourness. TASTE: very sour.

Pours a rich ruby red color with no visible head. The nose is very interesting, I get a good dose of spicy charcuterie, cherry pie and some funky basement must. The palate is way more cherry than the nose lead me to believe. Round full body with smooth cherry pie, musty barrel notes and a long dry cherry pie finish.

Bottle at Sourfest. Hazy pinkish pour with a diminishing head. Hay, funky sour cherry aroma. Subdued carbonation, mellow smooth flavor with sour tart cherries, yeast funk and mustiness. Easy drinker.

Bottle at blue monk. Pours a beautiful red but extremely flat. Lots of sour tart cherries. Milder funk and tartness, nice sour cherry flavor. Medium mouthfeel. Nice but takes a back seat to the Oude

MacBoost (1791) - Penfield, New York, USA - JUN 8, 2013
Bottle from some store in Iowa. Pours a flat looking murky reddish pink with no head. Aromas of cherry pie, oak and a whole clobbering of funk. Taste is moderatly sour. Some funk detected in the mouth, medium acidity but not as good as I was hoping. Still, its pretty good. the regular kriek blows this away, as does 3 fonteinens version of the Schaerbeek lambic.

Dark red colour, almost no foam or carbonation. Very complex lambic. Fruity aroma of sour cherries, vinegar, and marzipan.

Sampled as Schaerbeekse kriekenlambic which I got confirmed is the same as this one. Bottled pure, no lambic added when bottling in order to carbonate because this would destroy the fruity flavours which explains the other Hanssens bottled fruit beers. Pours an incredible, deep ruby red with no head. Nose is intense pure, real kriek, like holding a plate in your hands, lots of pits as well, light herbs, nicely natural fruit tart, amazing. Taste Is utterly incredible, pure kriek, taste, light Christmas herbs, lots of red wine & oodles of pits, red wine and strong tartness follow in the finish, quite sour and tart and nice added smidgon of acid. Completely flat, absolutely incredible this should be sold in Belgium.
