3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12.7 oz corked and caged green bottle. I see no vintage; the price tag on it says it came in to Enoteca in April of 2012, so it’s probably a 2011 vintage, but who knows? Pours cloudy ruby-red with a quickly-collapsing pink-white head; leaves a ring of big-bubbly foam. Aroma consists of cherries, cherry pits/almonds; nice-smelling, although not quite as assertive as the Cantillon I drank before this. Taste is much more sour and acidic than the Cantillon; lots of cherry flavor. Carbonation is almost flat, finishes dry. Overall, I liked the Cantillon better; it was better in every category, from aroma to palate, but the carbonation was the real clincher--the lack of bubbles made this one especially inferior to my tastes. Still, this is not bad at all--I probably would’ve rated it higher had I not just drank the Cantillon before this.
Thanks Vran(s), Iznogud & others! I think. Classic kriek appearance. Intensive acetic acid in the aroma, complex, actually covering actual cherry notes. Dominating acetic acid in the taste as well, with cherries almost as an afterthought. Solid, but I expected more. Listigovers (1312) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 19, 2017
Pours a very dark red, almost purple. Smells very funky and a bit of cheese, maybe yogurt. Taste is a bit sour and more funky, very fruity with the dry cherries. A bit of woody aged mild vinegar, not quite balsamic. A juicy dry tart treat. PhillyCraft (7935) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 6, 2017
Backlog, Bottle from Wineworks, Pours a reddish color, nearly brown. Small head and light lace. Aroma and taste are strawberry, oak, various citrus, blanket and light cherry. Acidic notes as it opens up. Decent one but much prefer the 3F with the same cherries. BVery (11361) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - SEP 1, 2017
Bottle shared by Tom - thanks! Clear rich red pour with very minor head. Cork came out with no sound. And yes, it's fairly flat. Dammit. Tart puckering palate, but soft, and undercarbonated. rubbishystuff (2537) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 21, 2017
At Local Option. Intensly tart. Puckery. A bit much for me. Woody, dry. Serving: Tap

On tap at York River Landing, Maine. This is a great example of a Belgian Kriek. It manages to have a lot of cherry character -- the red color, the fruit in the aroma, the cherry flavors -- but still display all of the barnyard funk that I love from the best lambics. It’s earthy and musty and funky, with a bit of tartness and a lot of cherry flavor. Excellent stuff. VsXsV (4546) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - DEC 9, 2016
Bottle. Deep ruby liquid with small to medium pink head. Aroma of almond, cherries, lemon, barnyard, grain, wood and earth. Taste is dry and medium to high sour with notes of lemon, cherries, almonds and light earth. Medium bodied with low to medium carbonation. Super nice. Lots of fruit.
