Tasted at Dark Lord Day 2011. Yes, I distinctly read "2008" from the label into my audio notes. Rarer than a Pliny, I’m guessing. Dark barley wine, very sweet malts. Solidly alcoholic. Hops were a little hard to find in the nose, but in the palate they show up, quite sturdy and bitter. That’s all the impressions I recorded, it was the end of a long day of drinking.

Bittle gift from SJ. Very nice Barley wine. Good notes of caramel, bread, toffee, raison, and other dark fruits...possibly dates. Very well blended with a touch of a candy sugar finish.

Timo! Medium brown color. Tan head. Brown sugar, light oxidation, chewy malts, honey, pretty good!

Thanks Dak! The little squat bottle pours with a nice glowing amber to ruby red body that supports a light tan head. The aroma offers up thick sweet malts, molasses, chocolate, a dash of minerals and a vanilla flavored cookie. Interesting. The taste is pretty smooth and rich with thick malts, some molasses, ginger spice and then a firm hop soapiness. It gets a bit minerally here and there too and an odd chocolate note is noticed into the finish. Tasty but kind of an odd brew.

Bottle at home. Pours very dark brown with a creamy beige head. The aroma is cocoa, toffee, chocolate, hazelnuts, tobacco and toasted caramel. Dried fruits. The flavor is intense and warming. Notes of ripe fruit, biscuits, nuts, sweet malt, toasted bread, light nutmeg, a hint of pumpkin and chocolate cake. Astonishing! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

330 ml bottle. Deep copper colored with off-white head. Aroma of raw sugar, loads of toffee, caramel, sugar, port and dried fruit. Taste is sweet, full and very complex; dried fruit, toffee, alcohol and raw sugar. Possibly the best barley wine made in sweden

Staffan47 (909) - Uppsala, SWEDEN - OCT 28, 2013
Kan det vara Sveriges bästa barleywine man precis drack här? Fantastisk bouquet! Domineras av nogat. Komplex och värmande. En klunk räcker för att njuta av väldigt länge.

330 ml bottle, vintage 2008, from Voldby Købmandsgaard. ABV is 12.7%. Cloudy dark brown colour, large beige head. Sweetish malty aroma, notes of oak, alcohol and caramel. Warming mouthfeel. Malty flavour, oak and caramel again, but not too sweet for a barleywine. Also notes of dark dried fruits. Oaky and hoppy finish.
