I feel like a worm in a tequila barrel, drunk and happy that I'm here. Barley wines are the future, you heard it here first.

UPDATED: MAR 28, 2013 Bottle from Systembolaget, 2010 vintage, 10%.
Pours hazy amber with a 2 finger brownish head. A lot of carbonation the first minutes.
Lots of raisins and figs, burned sugar in aroma.
Bitter taste at first, then sweet and then a bit bitter in the aftertaste. Raisins, bread, bitter citrus, sherry notes, warm alcohol.

Dark copper colour, nice lasting beige head. Aroma is typically barley wine. Taste is dark fruit, some spices, wood notes, hint of vanilla, sweet with some bitterness, some alcohol. Good full body and relatively high carbonated for a barley wine, not too high though. daniele (9219) - ITALY - MAR 6, 2012

Appearance: Slips out a clear, amber-edged, dark golden body with a smallish, but fairly persistent, near white head.
Smell: An even split of sweet-scented clover honey, simple syrup, and caramel ahead of florals, pureed fruit, and plenty of alcohol.
Taste: Sweet and deeply fruity with toothsome tastes of fresh honey, syrup, and light-colored caramel. Bready base malts. Figgy fruitiness. Mild oxidation giving a hint of sherry. Subdued hop character and bitterness. It’s a bit boozy, the Baronen, particularly on the heated, sweetish finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium-light carbonation.
Overall: A beer that barely achieves and never exceeds being merely OK.
20-JAN-2012, bottle @Bishops Arms CPH, with Ulkløbben.
Clear red/brown with lasting beige head.
Nose is alcohol, hops, but mostly sweet dark fruits and bready malts.
Taste is sweet, bready, fruity and hoppy.
Fine, bitter and sweet barley wine. I like this. dEnk (4200) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - JAN 17, 2012
Bottle @ home. Aroma is porty red fruit, caramel malt, apple cider, some spice, grenadine. Flavour is red fruit, caramel malt, some spices. Touch of alcohol. A bit old (it’s an old bottle) but still okay. Boliv (1150) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 12, 2012
2009 bottle c/o Rich. Pours cloudy orange and brown with a medium creamy beige head. Aromas of mild citrus peel, a bit funky, with toasted/buttery oak, alcohol, and raisins. The flavor is sweet toffee and burnt caramel, light grass, and a crisp malt finish. Bitter citrus is also present, with slight alcohol as it warms. Low carbonation and creamy with a dry finish. Really nice. Thanks! Vaiz (4460) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - JAN 4, 2012
Bottle. Aroma is spicy, some madeira, sugary and some alcohol. Flavor is slightly bitter, some alcohol and quite spicy. Nice smooth flavour, a bit old though.
