Hazy golden orange with a thin but enduring beige head. Syrupy full body with high carbonation.Travlr (24745) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - DEC 6, 2011
Aroma: a ton of pale malt, a touch of chocolate malt, german noble hops, hints of toffee and piney american hops.
Taste: lots of pale malt, aromatic malts, fruity ale esters, toffee, caramel, citrusy hops, butter, and alcohol.
Bottle. Clear deep amber color, small white head. Aroma of caramel syrup. Taste is licorice and creme brullee. Not bad. Benzai (15606) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - OCT 3, 2011
Bottle at Cafe Buitenlust, Oirschot. Shared with Dutchdrebus. Dark red / browm color, small off-white head. Smell wood, not much more. Taste chocolate, roastyness and sweetness. Bit too sweet in my opinion, but still nice. Medium to high carbo, medium to full body. DutchDrebus (6002) - Oirschot, NETHERLANDS - OCT 2, 2011
Dark brown with some redness, no head. Smells vert sweet, oak, too strong. Tastes chocolate, oak, caramel. Full body, medium body. obguthr (6349) - Staunton, Virginia, USA - SEP 26, 2011
Wicker, grain, subtle peanut hulls, and overripe orange nose. clear orange, medium head. a tad swee, overripe orange the predominate flavor with peanut skins toward the end. Finishes more bitter. a little hot on the back ewnd, but it’s a barleywine. Rustic and dirty.

(330ml bottle, 2010 vintage thanks to bu11zeye - Rating #3300!) clearish orange with a creamy tan head. Nose of honey, sweet caramel, a bit floral, smells so delicious. Taste is toasty, tiny bit alcoholic, sweet caramel. Wish it tasted exactly like it smelled. Still very nice. BeerSkull (1373) - SWEDEN - AUG 21, 2011
Malt aroma with hints of orange and chocolate. The flavor is sweet malt with chocolate undertones, some caramel and alcohol. An okay beer, but it does not really give me the "kick", can not say exactly why. Should probably try this again! Palidor19 (3188) - Brandon, Florida, USA - AUG 5, 2011
Heavy syrup flavor with a strong hoppy that has a real bite. The mouth feel is full and doesn’t end throughout the beer. It has it’s flaws but it’s very drinkable Ibrew2or3 (8614) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - JUL 3, 2011
Expensive as hell little bottle of beer pours hazy copper with full off white head. The aroma is dusty caramel malts, apricots, a bit of spicy hops and booziness into the end of the draw. The taste has malts, crystal malts, brown sugar, apricot sweet fruitiness, spicy hops and chemical booze into the finish. Seems to be a good deal going on here but it doesn’t really come together and doesn’t seem like age will do it much good either. Hope I’m wrong on the later point though. markwise (5441) - North of Tampa, Florida, USA - JUN 27, 2011
Thanks to IBrew2or3 for the share. Pours clear yellow-orange with an off-white head. Nose is malt, sugar cubes, vanilla, citrus, some miscellaneous bitterness. Flavor has sugar, malt, caramel, and oversweet plums. Interesting barley wine. Somewhat syrupy and pretty nice.
