Bottle. Pours a cloudy brown color with a moderate off-white head. Nose is very malty with the characteristic dry wine elements of the style. Taste is just a tad sweet with the malty alcoholic backbone so often seen. Interesting, but not my favorite sort of brew.

VsXsV (4414) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - APR 30, 2013
Bottle. 2009 vintage. Clear amber liquid with small off-white head. Aroma of dried fruit, toffee marmalade, caramel, port wine and sweet alcohol. Taste is light sweet and light bitter with notes of dried fruit, toffee and caramel. Medium bodied with medium to high carbonation. A bit over carbonated. Nice stuff.

Bottle 2010 vintage shared by adneilsen (thanks Aaaron) poured a clear reddish amber with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of carmel, bread, earthiness and spice. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of carmel, wood, earthiness and light fruittiness with a smooth lingering carmel finish.

Bottle @ Ratman’s, courtesy of some Swedish friends. Thanks! Pours a hazy reddish brown appearance with a thin cream colored head. Somewhat herbal, caramel, a bit oxidized, a touch fruity aroma. Somewhat strong, light cherry, a bit oxidized, caramel, light paper flavor. Pretty tasty but a bit old.

Leini (2034) - SWEDEN - FEB 3, 2013
2011 bottling. Cloudy brown with a white head. Red berries, syrup, apples, toffee, malty and a bit creamy with a pinch of licorice. Low carbonation, medium body. Balanced.

4.2
glennmastrange (2856) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - JAN 10, 2013
Bottle. Moderate to heavy cookie, roasted and caramel, moderate cooked orange for the hops, moderate dough and leather for the yeast, with notes of date and toffee. Head is small, wispy, off-white with no lacing and is fully diminishing. Color is murky medium orange/tan. Flavor starts moderately to heavily sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes moderately sweet and lightly acidic and bitter. Palate is medium to full, oily with a almost flat carbonation and a lightly alcoholic and chewy finish. Big and bold aromas and flavors combined with a perfect feel make this a relatively easy drinking Barley Wine.
