Hazy dark amber color; nice head. Medium aroma, sweet caramel, nutty. Good sweet caramel and malt flavor, correct bitterness. Side to side, less complex than the Munken.
2007-09-22, draught at Stockholm Beer Festival 2007, 7-5-8-4-16=40
Cloudy amber color; thin creamy head. Delicate malt aroma, lightly cheesy. Full bodied, very good malt flavor, immediately the alcohol fires up the guns, and the bitterness comes in to balance it, with a lot of oils; toffee, parmesan cheese too come to mind. Extremely powerful. Excellent.

Ruby red, good creamy beige head. A bit roasted malts, alcohol and horseblanket in the nose. Dark chocolate, rye bread, nice bready hops in the flavor. Nice barley wine style brew and now much better than last time. Rating based solely to this year’s tasting.

Draught, 9.0%. Citric aroma, yoghurt style. Quite cloudy, dark reddish colour. Small, but seemingly stable light brown head. The flavour is quite bitter, but balanced by sourness. The alcohol is well-hidden. The mouthfeel is not impressive for a barley wine, but OK. Benzai (15624) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - OCT 3, 2011
Bottle at Cafe Buitenlust, Oirschot. Shared with Dutchdrebus. Dark red / browm color, small off-white head. Smell wood, not much more. Taste chocolate, roastyness and sweetness. Bit too sweet in my opinion, but still nice. Medium to high carbo, medium to full body. bhensonb (15250) - Woodland, California, USA - JUN 7, 2011
Bottle shared by Marcus. Pours beautiful copper with an off-white head. Aromas of warm sweet malt and spiritous fruit. Full bodied. Heat isn’t important until the gullet. Flavor is smooth, pleasant malt with a light astringency. Suggests wood barrel. Ratman197 (14852) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - FEB 23, 2013
