Expensive as hell little bottle of beer pours hazy copper with full off white head. The aroma is dusty caramel malts, apricots, a bit of spicy hops and booziness into the end of the draw. The taste has malts, crystal malts, brown sugar, apricot sweet fruitiness, spicy hops and chemical booze into the finish. Seems to be a good deal going on here but it doesn’t really come together and doesn’t seem like age will do it much good either. Hope I’m wrong on the later point though. UPDATED: JUL 6, 2014 (Draught at Stockholm Beer Festival, 19 Sep 2008) Reddish amber colour with frothy, beige head. Malty nose with notes of dried fruit (apricots, raisins) and rubbery hops. Rather vinous. Malty taste with dried fruit (apricots) and lots of spicy, earthy hops in the finish. Rather sweet and vinous. More than medium body. Powerful, but with a good balance and a nice hop character. (7/4/7/4/15=3.7) Rerate 6 July 2014: (Bottle, vintage 2010, 10.0%) Brownish amber colour, slightly hazy, with dense beige head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of caramel, crisp-bread, prunes, raisins, dried apricots, earthy hops, hints of burnt rubber and a slight cellar aroma. Malty, fruit taste with caramel, raisins, prunes, dried apricots, dark bread, a touch of Madeira wine and a balanced bitterness with slightly earthy hops. Almost full body, with a certain sweetness. Well made and well balanced barley wine with a slight old ale character. Very nice. jredmond (8645) - New York, New York, USA - SEP 23, 2012
Bottle 2009 vintage (11.5%) shared with Linh at spuyten duvil. Pours a hazy amber body with no head, light white lacing. Aroma is agave syrup, apples, subtle maple and lots of alcohol. Mouthfeel is medium and almost chewy with notes of sugary fruit syrup, light alcohol, earthy barley and a light bitter, semi harsh finish. AndySnow (8119) - Huddinge, SWEDEN - SEP 22, 2012
Bottle. 2010 vintage. Hazy amber colour with a small white head. Caramel aroma. Sweet caramel flavour. Nisse666 (7984) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - SEP 23, 2010
UPDATED: JAN 18, 2016 Bottle from SB, cons 2010-09-23, Göteborg, 2007 year edition!
AR: a bit like old stock, vinos, pruns, chocolate, rasins, very round and a bit oaky. The nice aroma i still there after being poured.
AP: dark ruby body, creme caramell coloured froty head
F: a bit to obevious strong, but very nice flavours of caramel, scottish toffee, vinos, pruns, chocolate, rasins fruity and a bit dry finish. I guess it needs a couple of more years of storing to get a rounder flavour and more appeling taste. Oily consistence. Have had several editions of this beer, over the years.

330ml Bottle - Hazy copper with a small head. Marzipan, raisins, fruit cake, leather and malt in the aroma. Fruity, sweet and malty taste with notes of Christmas cake, spice, raisins, malt and nuts. Easy to drink, yet full of body. Its taste belies its ABV. I have another bottle of this in my ’cellar’ and look forward to seeing how it matures. It is certainly very enjoyable and impressive at this stage. olsvammel (7289) - Örebro, SWEDEN - SEP 20, 2009
It poured a hazy dark golden liquid with a light brown foam that left some lacing. It had a strong smell with some warm alcohol. It felt round, thick and smooth in my mouth. Had a warm alcoholic finnish. Tasted of caramell, malt and fruity. Very nice. caesar (7286) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - JAN 5, 2010

Bottle (33 cl), thanks gnoff. Hazy mahogny, creamy beige head. Very nutty aroma, with fudge and mild earthy & herbal hops. Medium bodied and smooth. Very well balanced with a long bitter finish. Very good.
