Bottle. 2009 vintage. Clear amber liquid with small off-white head. Aroma of dried fruit, toffee marmalade, caramel, port wine and sweet alcohol. Taste is light sweet and light bitter with notes of dried fruit, toffee and caramel. Medium bodied with medium to high carbonation. A bit over carbonated. Nice stuff.

panacea (94) - Mölndal, SWEDEN - JUN 27, 2014
2012 vintage. Nose is almost nothing. Maybe some dried fruit sweetness but very subtle. Taste is lots of dried fruit, sweetness and some booze. Body is perfect for the style. Some nose and this beer would be perect.

Klar, mörk orange-röd-brun med ett kaki brunt skum. Doft: Russin, kanderat socker, hård fruktkaramell, humle. Smak: Som doft + dadlar, vaniljglass. Saknar lite längre eftersmak.

Bottle from Saveur-Biere.com - Color: deep dark brown beer with no carbonation and medium brown head. Smell: caramel and sweet malt domination. Brown sugar and sugar cane notes with rum and raisin notes. Impressive nose. Taste: full body with caramel malt and brown sugar with toffee domination and rum barrel notes. Fruity with raisin and plums. Good attenuation. Alcohol finish. Aftertaste: caramel, rum, astringent alcohol and sugar.

Pianka nieduża, szybko redukująca się do pierzynki. Barwa rubinowo czerwona, opalizująca. W aromacie sporo kontrastujących nutek - z jednej strony karmel, toffi i rodzynki, z drugiej kandyzowane owoce i przyprawy a z trzeciej czerwone wino, wiśnie i taniny. Alkohol rozgrzewający, ładnie ułożony, niskie do średniego, drobne wysycenie, pełne i lepkie, choć niegęste w odbiorze.
Złożone i ciekawe piwo, warte spróbowania, dla mnie odrobinę przeładowane i zbyt ziołowe, ale doceniam.

250th Beer Rating! I've forgot to keep track of them but I gotta celebrate with a special beer.

1 finger beige head. Almost black but really a super deep ruby red.

Aroma is burnt malts, raisins and other dried dark fruits and smokey wood.

Taste is chewy caramel, bread, dates, oak barrel, raisins and a hint of alcohol in a beautiful blend.

Mouthfeel is really smooth with a good initial kick. Medium bitterness. Medium carbonation, for the style. Thick and chewy.

Overall: This particular bottle is from 2016 and even in this short time it's matured beautifully. Really smooth and fully packed with flavours and dark notes. Excellent sweetness. Can't wait to try the "French Oak" version.

UPDATED: JUL 6, 2014 (Draught at Stockholm Beer Festival, 19 Sep 2008) Reddish amber colour with frothy, beige head. Malty nose with notes of dried fruit (apricots, raisins) and rubbery hops. Rather vinous. Malty taste with dried fruit (apricots) and lots of spicy, earthy hops in the finish. Rather sweet and vinous. More than medium body. Powerful, but with a good balance and a nice hop character. (7/4/7/4/15=3.7) Rerate 6 July 2014: (Bottle, vintage 2010, 10.0%) Brownish amber colour, slightly hazy, with dense beige head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of caramel, crisp-bread, prunes, raisins, dried apricots, earthy hops, hints of burnt rubber and a slight cellar aroma. Malty, fruit taste with caramel, raisins, prunes, dried apricots, dark bread, a touch of Madeira wine and a balanced bitterness with slightly earthy hops. Almost full body, with a certain sweetness. Well made and well balanced barley wine with a slight old ale character. Very nice.
