Towey1989 (2705) - Stoke On Trent, Staffordshire, ENGLAND - MAR 9, 2017
Cask at The London Road Ale House, Stoke. A brown colour with a medium beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel, chocolate powder, some tobacco, slight coffee, a little dark fruits, a hint of treacle and subtle hazelnut. Taste of caramel, treacle, some tobacco, slight dark fruits, a little leather and subtle coffee. Light bodied and a slightly slick texture. A sweetish, treacley roastiness in the finish. More a old fashioned porter, sweet treacle flavours with a touch of chocolate, caramel, tobacco and soft roastiness. However it’s a little thin for me.

500ml bottle picked up at Ship in a Bottle. Poured a nice rosewood coloured body and a slowly diminishing, tan-coloured head. Sparse lacing. Dark fruity aroma added by a little roastiness. Taste of dark fruity hops, oatmeal and roasted malts. Smooth bittersweet tail. Refreshing and fine bodied (hotel room, Liverpool 08.04.2013).

Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Some smokey tobacco to finish, burnt wood, faint tang and dark sugars. OK.

downender (8584) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - NOV 9, 2012
Cask-conditioned at the Cheshire Beeriodical, Seven Stars, Bristol October 2012. Black with a decent, off-white head. Aroma of dark chocolate, bitter oranges, dark fruits and a touch of grassy hop. Flavour had more fruit and choclate, some liquorice, porridge oats, leading to a dryish finish. Excellent.

jackl (8029) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - AUG 20, 2012
Cask @ GBBF ’12. The pour’s deep amber with a tiny white head. The nose is toffee, cherry, some light wood. The taste is more light cherry and roasted wood. This gives over to strong nasty tobacco flavors. Medium body, soft carbonation. Overall, I don’t know if this was a bad batch, but on this presentation I found the beer to be strongly disagreeable.

Gravity at the Wellington, Birmingham. Refreshing and very well hopped. Full of flavour, but not over the top. Deliciously light, yet tasty. Dry finish.
