Pint at the Black Bull Gateshead. Hazy brown creamy white head. Marmalade on toast aroma, similar flavour with some nice toffee malt. Palate a little thin, but O.K.

Bottle at home, 9th February 17. Pours brown, with a big white head. Aroma is citrus, malts. Taste is sweet and bitter, citrus, marmalade, nice, smooth and fun.

Citrus fruits, orange, brown and toasted malts. Clear brown, small, creamy, off-white head. light bitter and sweet. More toasted malts, bread and grain malts, some pine, more orange and some grapefruit. Very nice Brown Ale, wished they would all be like this one. Cask at CASK Pub & Kitchen, Pimlico.

Cask @ Smithfield Market Tavern, Manchester. Golden-brown with a creamy-head. Has a gritty-hoppy character in a smooth tasting, palatable texture. There’s some fruit too.

Handpump at Cask Pub and Kitchen in London. Very dark copper clean pour, huge and long lasting ivory foam. Nose: mint, herbs a bit, resin too. Mouth: creamy texture, resinous silky notes, a soft roast body, top! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

ladnewton (1937) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 9, 2016
Cask at CBC, Clerkenwell on 9th September 2016. Deep copper with a lasting off-white foam affording full lacing. Leafy herbiness and earthy pungency in aroma. Biscuit malts, leafy hops and peach in-mouth. Bittersweet finish with leafy, grassiness dominant late. Zingy mouthfeel and medium body.

Mortlach (2335) - Rome, ITALY - MAR 28, 2015
Handpump @Mad For Beer (Rome). Brown appearance with a medium foam. Aroma has some metallic notes, hops, roasted malts. Disappointed. Taste is better, roasted malts, some caramel, then a bitter end. Light body. A bit rough and messy, with some bad off-flavour.

Really good mix of hops and malt. On tap at volo. Very smooth drinker. Light brown.

On keg at the Craft Beer Rising event at the Drygate Brewery. General impression here was that there was lots of India going on but not much of the brown ale.So, marks for artistic impression probably not that high though a tasty beer was delivered.

Keg @ Birmingham Beer Bash July 14. Pours a dark reddish brown with huge white head. Moderately sweet and hoppy with a decent malt backbone. Citrus and herbal pine notes coming through too. Nice.
