November 2017 - Tasting at CBC Islington. Bottle shared with big thanks to Paul. As 'Hardknott Granite 2009', bottle 85 of 504. Dark brown, red hue, foamy light brown head. Aroma is intense boiled sweets, liquorice, molasses. Body is smooth with tingly carbonation. Taste is peaty, smoked, some sugary semi-fermented wine, boiled sweets, spiced finish with a touch more red wine. Interesting. Murky mahogany brown with a decent beige cap.
Nose is soy sauce, brown breads, spice, toffee, rich malts,
Taste comprises light smoke, toffee, biscuit, booze tunes, brown sugar, caramel.
Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a light boost.

Bottle #212/504, thanks to Leighton at the Pre-Zwanze. It pours darkest ruby-brown with a medium light tan head. The nose is roasty, toast, raisin, prune, brown sugar and apple-wood smoked cheddar. The taste is roasted malt, toast, cherry, date, prune, plum, light saltiness and a touch of alcohol. Medium-full body and fine carbonation. Has aged gracefully. Tasty and well-balanced. 50cl bottle at Bruce’s, thanks to Leighton. It pours a deep brown colour with a large beige head. Aroma is sweet, figs and plums. Taste is charred oak with dried dark fruits, caramel and some booze. Bottle at pre zwanze tasting. Thanks to Leighton. Aroma is rye spice and smoked malt. Clear dark caramel with a thin persistent cream head. Some phenols. Medium body nice velvety carbonation. Slight tart raspberry in the finish.

Bottle shared at the Pre-Zwanze Tasting - London. Bottle number 212/504. Pours deep amber with a moderate, lasting tan froth head - the beer looks quite impressive, actually. The aroma has dried fruits, dirt, light smoke, subtle cocoa. Medium sweet flavor with nice, restrained smoke, modest peat, touches of roast, dried berries. Medium to full bodied with fine, creamy carbonation. Sweet finish, further dried and lightly tangy berries, peat, dirt, soft cocoa. Pretty nice, dynamic beer. 0.5 L bottle, kindly shared by larsga. Clear dark brown with a reddish hue. A low beige lace of foam on top. Smell of ashy dark malts, dried cow manure, spices, and a hard to pin-point vegetal scent. Taste is sweet dark malty. Sourish edged with smoke and tar tones. Some strange notes of composted leaves/grass, too. Well-bodied. Smooth mouthfeel, surprisingly enough. Dryish, ashy and cheesy caramel endnotes. Hm, strange brew. If this was ment to be a smoked artisanal farmhouse barley wine... well, it’s spot on!

Small brown head. Clear deep red body. Deep cough drops and blue cheese aroma with cow barn and smoke notes. Dry-sweetish and faintly acidic burnt caramel and minerals taste with wooden tobacco and smoke notes. Fullish body. Mild mouthfeel. Dry mineraly burnt caramel aftertaste with smoky butter notes. Bottle @ UDRM april 8th 2011. The aroma has sweetish malts, ashtrays, tar. Dark coloured beer with an off-white head. The taste is sweet, has sugar, toffee, smoke, roast, some raisin. Quite some body there. Nice one.
