This IPA is not particularly Pale. In fact it’s a deep ruby red. Based on a modern American style beer from Oregon using Cascade and Centennial hops in appropriate proportions, for bittering, aroma and dry hopping balanced with a strong Crystal malt backbone.

UPDATED: MAR 5, 2016 Aroma is perfume sweet. Almost expecting to dip into a Corona "it’s frothy man". The red colour continues this expectation. The hopping is heavy but to be honest I would have preferred a fresher hop flavour and less bittering. Very harsh on the palate. If you have ulcers they will rip pen with each sip. Something artificial about this flavour.

Bottle at home. Pours a dark red amber. Decent sweet malt flavour. Some nuttiness, slight bitter bite. Smooth finish. Good.

Aroma is floral and hoppy with a touch of caramel. Nice taste. The fruity caramel sweetness balances well against the dryness of the hop.

Bottle at Figs. Straight from the bottle unfortunately. Aroma is pretty weak, slight toast, slight funk. Taste is big malts, bread, dry finish.

Good retaining head. Alcohol aromas. Rich red brown colour. Balanced flavours of bitter hops, alcohol and malty background.

Had an interesting head, Orval style, long lasting. Aroma wasn’t too great but you could feel the hops. Flavourwise, a bit disappointed, was expecting a slightlier more hoppy flavour, just felt bitter with no taste, nothing special in particular

Pours a nice deep red with a dense off white head. Aroma is fairly weak, juicy fruit, caramel biscuit, and citrus peel is just about there. Taste is mildly green and hoppy, a thin caramel biscuit presence, finishing bitter, astringent, unbalanced, and very jarring. The level of bitterness is fine but it is clearly an example of poor choice/use of hops: aroma is weak and the bitterness is unpleasantly astringent and harsh. Poor brewing. I had such high hopes...
