Growler from the brewery. An intrguing concept. Pours a hazy amber color with a medium sized frothy off-white head. Good head retention. Aroma of bitter resin hops, caramel and a hint of nuttiness. The taste is bitter herbal, resin hops, honey, oats. Medium bodied. I feel this could use a little less hop intensity, but it’s a solid beer. Kinz (3786) - Glen Allen, Virginia, USA - FEB 8, 2013
Finally made it by Hardywood after having been so busy the last couple of months that I was never able to get over there. Picked up a growler of this one. Pours a very slightly hazed gold, with a very active, long lasting white head. Purdy. Medium bitter hop aroma, slightly floral and citric. Flavor is very much hop oriented, citric, floral, slightly spicy. Malt is in the background, offers just enough body and sweetness to keep the hops in check. Very "West Coast" in that way. Oats of course offer pretty much no flavor, but seem to add a touch of roundness to things. Or I could be imagining that. Either way, nice brew. Sampled at the brewery and brought home a 32oz growler.Pours gold with a slight, bubbly head. Very fresh, grassy hop aroma with a slight citrus. Taste is very bitter up front with a creamy, definite oatmeal back. Really weird, not totally great, but definitely not bad. A bit astringent, but nice crisp finish. Sampled on draft at the brewery. Semihazy straw pour with fair white head. Nose is lightly spicy with a hint of citrus and a good dose of clean citrus hops. Flavor is also spicy. But not overpowering like a rye pa or anything. Some faint floral notes, and a bit of sweetness for balance, but still distinctly leans hoppy bitter. Pretty tasty, though I’m not sure I can pick up what the oatmeal is doing.
