Gingerbread Stout matured in Caribbean dark rum barrels, where it adapts an incredibly mellow character with a crescendo of gingerbread spice giving way to subtly sweet, lingering molasses and spiced rum notes and emerges 12 weeks later as Rum Barrel GBS. A festive blend of spice and character laces this rich, chocolatey stout, which warms the palate and the soul.

Pours opaque coffee brown, not much head. Aroma features gingerbread, roast malt, woody and rum notes. Flavor adds a little coffee and molasses to the mix. Mouthfeel presents good body and fair fizz. Roll out the barrel!

Draft at Churchkey. Poured a nearly pitch black color with a small wispy head. Aroma was spices, roasted and sweet malt characters. Gingerbread is still pretty strong in this one, for being a keg from at least 6 months back. Woody notes, boozy rum notes. Rum cake notes, gingerbread. Enjoyable, but in small doses I think.

Bottle at RBGT. Pours dark brown. Aroma is rum barrel indeed, over some porter roastiness and gingerbread spices. Body is heavy, with strong rum barrel notes, sweet caramel and nuts. Long sweet palate. Nice.

Pours a deep black from the bomber with bubbly tan head that leaves moderate lace. Aroma of booze and spice. Taste is spicy ginger and cinnamon notes over hints of rum and booze. Really nice, a little hot, but good stuff.

Bottle. Pours inky black, medium creamy brown bread, good lacing. Aroma is rum cocoa, vanilla, cookie, biscuit, molasses. Flavor is medium sweet, light bitter, ginger considerably muted but still there. Full body, 😋 creamy. Very good.

Thanks Matt for sharing the bottle! Poured into a taster showing pitch black with no head. The nose shows ginger, nutmeg, and cinnamon. The palate is light bodied and moderately carbonated. Very ginger forward with flavors of nutmeg and cinnamon in the background. Ginger leaves a strong and sharp spiciness throughout. Not much rum barrel at all.

10.6%ABV. Stout. Poured out black. 40ºSRM. Nose is toasted coconut, marzipan, chocolate, cafe au lait, marshmallows, pumpkin pie. Mouthfeel is lightly syrupy and coffee. Palate has pumpernickel base with pie crusts, toasted graham cracker, s’mores with chocolate, marshmallow, gula melaka, treacle and creme brulee. Finish is smooth, creamy and woody. Goes on Favorites List!
