Draft at Burger Bach, short Pump, VA The ale poured a cloudy light amber with a white head and some lacing. Pineapple is detected on the nose. Nice floral hops also greets you. The flavor is a complex mixture of pineapple and citrus hops. There is a lingering bitterness in the back of your mouth. The ale has a medium body with average carbonation. This is an excellent ale with a smooth finish and some lingering bitterness to the last swallow. koleminer20 (4091) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - MAR 22, 2016
From notes. On draft at Hunahpu’s Day 2016 in Tampa on March 12. The pour on this is a hazy golden yellow color with some hints of orange and a frothy white head that falls down to a film, leaving lots of soapy lace. Unfortunately, this is where the good things end. The aroma is not good. There is a light tropical fruit, some pine resin, and a strong banana influence. It’s a horrible addition. There is a little citrus, but I can’t help but wonder if this has a Belgian yeast. The flavor is slightly better because the banana is subdues, but it’s not good. Pine, citrus zest, and a light hard candy thing are going on with the tropical fruits. Ugh. The mouth feel is thicker and heavy with a syrupy tendency. The carbonation is soft and light with a lingeringly fruity, almost back to the banana aftertaste. This, my friends, is pretty much why you shouldn’t trust a Hardywood IPA. Stick with the GBS. Draft at the Screens N Suds 2015 yardsale event at Gallery 5. Almost as good as the original. Lots of big citrus grapefruit and pine notes, and while I guess I could get pineapple wisps, it wasn’t ’punch you in the face’ or anything. A little lower carbonation and murky. Good IPA, but I would rather just drink the base beer. rodenbach99 (4678) - Longueuil, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 27, 2015
EBF Boston mars 2015. Un liquide jaune pâle. Un nez de pale ale fruité avec une touche herbacée. Une bouche un peu rêche et piquante. Une bière qui avait tout pour plaire mais qui laisse un peu sur notre faim.
