COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
West Coast Style IPA. Bold, resinous and bursting with bright grapefruit aroma, this IPA is a tribute to the decades of hard work by conservationists to restore the James River as a bounty of vibrant aquatic life, eco-friendly recreational activity, and in our case, fresh brewing water. These efforts have culminated recently with the symbolic return of the endangered Atlantic sturgeon, a prehistoric, yet majestic behemoth of a fish, spotted as far up the James River as the fall line in Richmond. Your purchase of this beer supports the James River Association. Thank you for being a part of The Great Return. In our commitment to James River conservation, Hardywood will contribute $10 per barrel of The Great Return to The James River Association, to support their mission to be the guardian of the James River. The JRA’s core programs include Watershed Restoration, Education and Outreach, River Advocacy and the Riverkeeper Program.

Can from a friend. Poured a clear copper-orange color with a moderate off-white head that faded to a dense layer and left beautiful sheets of lacing. Aroma of fresh, dank hops paired with bright citrus fruit (grapefruit, orange) along with some moderate notes of pine. Smooth entry leads immediately into a fresh, floral, resin-filled hoppiness with a complementary citrus fruitiness in the form of grapefruit and softer orange that linger into the bitter finish where undertones of a sweet caramel maltiness are present. Moderate carbonation and medium mouth feel, incredibly drinkable due to the dryness imparted by the hops. Overall, a great beer if you are looking for a hop-forward, easy-drinking treat...which is exactly what they were shooting for.

On tap at East Street Tap, Brighton on our birthday week, Friday 17th November 2017 Pours hazy gold but I am reviewing this Sat under the glare of red neon lights. Quite a perfume, floral edge to this, not picking up much grapefruit but I'm sure it's there. Soft in the mouth, a pleasant bitter bite throughout. Really good and quite a contrast to the Flying Dog Salted Caramel beer. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.6

Keg at Beerdock Leek. A slightly hazy pale amber colour with a medium white head. Aroma of pine, grapefruit, some orange, slight bready malts, caramel, gingerbread, a little toasted grain and subtle spicy, herbal hops. Taste of pine, resin, grapefruit, orange, slight toffee, bready malts, a little toasted grain, a hint of gingerbread and subtle spicy, herbal hops. Medium to full bodied and an oily texture. A long, dry, subtley warming, resinous, spicy, herbal hop bitterness in the finish. A big, boozy and classic West Coast IPA with a great body and a good bitterness throughout. Very good.
