COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
West Coast Style IPA. Bold, resinous and bursting with bright grapefruit aroma, this IPA is a tribute to the decades of hard work by conservationists to restore the James River as a bounty of vibrant aquatic life, eco-friendly recreational activity, and in our case, fresh brewing water. These efforts have culminated recently with the symbolic return of the endangered Atlantic sturgeon, a prehistoric, yet majestic behemoth of a fish, spotted as far up the James River as the fall line in Richmond. Your purchase of this beer supports the James River Association. Thank you for being a part of The Great Return. In our commitment to James River conservation, Hardywood will contribute $10 per barrel of The Great Return to The James River Association, to support their mission to be the guardian of the James River. The JRAs core programs include Watershed Restoration, Education and Outreach, River Advocacy and the Riverkeeper Program.

Can from a friend. Poured a clear copper-orange color with a moderate off-white head that faded to a dense layer and left beautiful sheets of lacing. Aroma of fresh, dank hops paired with bright citrus fruit (grapefruit, orange) along with some moderate notes of pine. Smooth entry leads immediately into a fresh, floral, resin-filled hoppiness with a complementary citrus fruitiness in the form of grapefruit and softer orange that linger into the bitter finish where undertones of a sweet caramel maltiness are present. Moderate carbonation and medium mouth feel, incredibly drinkable due to the dryness imparted by the hops. Overall, a great beer if you are looking for a hop-forward, easy-drinking treat...which is exactly what they were shooting for.

Initial resin the malt overtones, not really floral but a hint of grapefruit. Bold and solid, very nice but not quite floral to achieve favorite status. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

16oz can pours mostly clear golden with a lasting white head. Aroma is nice orange and apricot, some pine, sugar. Flavor is pretty sweet. Not sure I agree that this is west coast settle. Medium citrus rind hops on the finish. Medium-plus body, mildly syrupy. Good but not a standout.

500ml can. Pours a hazy golden orange, light ring of white bubbly head and light to moderate lacing. Nose is a slightly muted orange, apricot, a bit of toffee; more citrus in the flavour, with some caramel as well. Almost feels a bit creamy; clean finish. Quite nice.
